Went to Starlings last week, bought 4 Ramazan bread which cost 3.20TL (80kurus each) went today and bought 2 and was charged 4TL (2TL each) so my question is how much is everyone paying?? Was I undercharged last week or has the price risen dramatically because of the exchange rate...

Have to say the bread is pretty yummy but not worth 2TL. Suffice to say will not be buying at that price again

At todays exchange rate that is about 60p - hardly breaking the bank

Agree fiendishpaul that its not breaking the bank - just don't like getting ripped off which unfortunately here is par for the course. Am sure when the lira goes back down to 2.2 they won't be dropping the prices to correspond. Will carry on treating myself but not by lining Starlings pocket.

Message 6: Bread that is made specially around the Ramadan period to be eaten I understand when the daily fast stops. It is certainly is very nice bread. I always thought it was called Ramadan Bread though.

normally there are 2 sizes and the bigger size is 2tl. but it my opinion worth it as it is fresh and delicious and only around at Ramazan time so have to make the most of it.

Price will depend on size.

It's extremely unlikely anyone would be "ripped-off" in this case as bread prices are rigorously controlled.

Lambousa Gordon; "It's extremely unlikely anyone would be "ripped-off" in this case as bread prices are rigorously controlled. "

Who is controlling what?

Everytime I walk into a bread section in market, there are about 5 different brands, most with diet, brown, village versions. All priced differently for the same weight!

As for Ramazan bread, it was around 80 kuruş - 1 TL last year, and I think the 2 TL price tag this year is disgusting! It is OK for a non-bread eating Brit to treat himself to one every now and then, but what about a family of say 5, having to buy at least 3-4 of them every night? 8 TL for 30 nights is 240 TL for the month - just for bread?
