COMPUTER VIRUS beware sent to me today

This morning on all mornings, as it would have been my dead son's 30th, i opened up an email from Jodie Hoyles who i believe is the wife of Jon Hoyles, it was a nasty virus sent as an attachment regarding mens enlargement pilsl, luckily my computer is very well protected so the virus was immediately detected and my computer as you can see is ok. Beware as i know it was sent to at least 7 other people. Why Jodie Hoyles has done this i do not know. I will be reporting this to the appropriate authorities.

She might not be aware it has been sent. I get things from my grand-daughter's e-mail address offering things that I know she would'nt be sending ( shown in the first few words that show in your mail-box ) I always delete them. She has now had to get another e-mail address.

bazzagirl, I would suggest that if you were able to open the mail before the virus was detected, you are not as well protected as you think.

A good anti-virus will block the e-mail from opening until you tell it to unblock it when you are sure it is from a safe sender.

As carian says though, not all e-mails recieved are actually from the named sender. If that person has mistakenly used the friend locator sytem found on some social networking sites, they may well have been hacked and all of there contacts are now vulnerable and the mails sent will appear to come from them to allow thier friends to open the file.

I have a good anti-virus system but a rule of thumb for me is to only open attachments from senders I am expecting or that have a description of what the file is in the mail. Not perfect but it does help.

I have received some e-mails from friends

and found them to be ads for viagra etc.

The friends have not been aware that their e-mail list had been lifted to be used like this.

Not sure what action can be taken but perhaps some of the more knowledgable on here can come up with an answer.

Bazza Girl this happens all the time email address's get hijacked and spam and virus' get sent around the globe.

Not sure why you felt it neccesary to accuse Jodie of deliberatley doing this! I know jodie and there is no way she would have done this on purpose. Maybe you would have been better taking it up with her away from this forum instead of blackening her name!

I have just had a telephone call from my husband and mum saying that this virus has gone to them also.

I haven't actually opened my emails, so was not aware of this problem.



Christine..... you obviously dont know me that well as I would NOT send anything out like this to anyone. I commiserate with you on losing your son, but am offended at the fact you mentioned myself and my husband on this forum.

My computer was forever sending viagra adverts (and worse) to poor people but since making sure I log out of hotmail, it has stopped. It's just something the computers do on their own when we are sleeping!

I received the same thing from Jodie to my email this morning and given that I have received similar emails from people in the past, I am well aware that it is a virus which needs to be deleted, which I duly did as although I am not great with computers, I am not stupid! If it's something I don't know or recognise then I delete it, it's not rocket science.



I then signed onto facebook and found that Jodie had immediately warned those who can see her facebook wall of the problem and that she was trying to rectify the problem also warning every one they should delete the message immediatley! These are not the actions of someone who is trying to send a virus to certain people, just something that happens sometimes in cyber space.



I would like to add here that what goes around does indeed come around, we shall see! The email you sent to Jodie is disgusting but given your manner on this forum, not surprising.

A customer of mine who's email i had ,started to send me links to a cheap viagra website.

So i called her up and asked if she knew more about my marriage and sex life than i did?

We had a great laugh about it. Her email address had been hacked, clearly by someone with a need to sell viagra online, lol.

No great deal.

but Jodie is a very nice girl/lady......Her husband (rugby player), is a gently giant..... But upset her mother, and she can be a right bitch.
