you are f course correct. In Greek it is 'ταχίνι' the χ makes a noise like clearing your throat, viz: tach - ini

Nope...... wrong again Mark. Hummus is essentially a paste of chickpeas Tahini is a paste of sesame seeds. Sometimes (and I mean sometimes) tahini is added to Hummus as an optional extra.

I had a crack at making hummus once. Never again. It took me ages, made a hell of a mess in the kitchen and the end result could have been used to lay paving slabs; it certainly wasn't edible!

1/ it *is* a joke..



2/ the joke refers to TWO well known 'Greek' dips.. ( double dip.. cluebat ?) you can take your pick of the three mentioned.. the or was a choice, not stating 'the same' ! :P
