would be very interested to know if any members know the werebouts of the man who used to run {until this week} the upholstery shop opposite the gold lady in alsancak he took a large deposit to reupholster some of my furniture have just been up there and hes gone, leaving mine and a lot of other furniture sitting outside

just to confirm he took my deposit then went on holiday for 2 weeks i saw him on monday he said you will get your furniture this week the shop is now empty

We also gave this man a large deposit. We used him previously and his service was very quick, so of course we trusted him. So we bought a second hand suite and took it to him to be recovered about 3 months ago. We went there several times only to be told by him that his wife had been in a car crash and his baby daughter had died in the crash. He even showed us the newspaper cutting. So, of course anyone who has any kind of heart, would be patient, so we left him alone. Time was pressing on and we really needed the suite finished so we went round there last week, only to be told by a Turkish man who spoke really good english (he said he used to own the Farmhouse Alsancak if any of you know him) that there was a crash and his friend was an honourable man and that we would get our suite. He lied !!!

Forgot to say our suites are srill there stripped and minus all the cushions, which he kept showing us he had done to appease us (he has taken the cushions with him) There was a Nigerian boy outside yesterday and I have just realised that he was propbably being paid to guard the suites until he could take them as well, thus covering them down some back alley and then reselling them after having taken all our money.

Get the police to accompany you and repossess your furniture, may not have had the work done but there is an upholsterer opposite Fast Foods in Alsancack.

i have never seen outside this shop so many stripped sofas i beleive this man planned this he offered to recover my sofa 2 weeks ago came to my house on a saturday night and wanted 1000 tl upfront for material on monday the shop was closed i think this man is a thie f and should be reported to the police by everybody who has lost money he also showed us the newspaper article of his dead grandchild

The moral is. Don't pay anything up front any only deal in well established busineses.

If you haven't got in touch with the police, I would do so immediately especially as it sounds like they may already know of him,
