I have freinds staying in my villa this week. They have called me this morning worried and angry! My pool company uses Zerochlor and whilst the pool is OK, clean etc. My friends kids hair has gone yellow, their skin has yellow streaks and a lot of their clothes and towels have also yellow stains on. Does anyone know if the Zerochlor is causing this or maybe the Zerochlor is reacting against something? Has anyone else had this problem? Any info much appreciated!

Sounds more likely to be Sun Tan lotion. I used to use P20 and that used to have that effect. Have never heard any bad reports about Zerochlor.

Friends had same problem but as Johnylee says,it was the suntan lotion. Stained and streaked their bedding towels and skin.

Can you not get the pool company to visit them and discuss the problem with them. Maybe a simple reason this has happened and not the pool chemicals !

yes, you have to be careful with certain sun tan oils! (lotions tend to be ok) but especially waterproof oils like p20 cause wierd staining of skin hair and materials..

I have mentioned this to David of Zerochlor and he has requested you to call him on this number 0533 830 5302. He is not able to post on here himself and he cannot e-mail you because you have hidden your address. He would like to know who is looking after your pool

Off topic a little bit but relevant. I used to go a really nice shade of brown when I used P 20 and my clothes and towels also went a streaky yellow. (ruined) It contains a tanning agent, (not quite as bad as tanfastic) But it gave excellent protection.

That's strange as I put some in my pool a week ago and the same thing happened to my visitors clothes and hair, although the other friends that stayed a few days before didn't have any problems, so I would agree that you are correct in saying that its a certain type of suntan lotion that is being used that is the cause of it. I also put zerochlor in my other friends pools and it has been fantastic and never been a problem. Pembechic ask your friend which lotion they use and let us know the brand and I will do the same with my friends.

pembecik, if you really are concerned about this, please call the number above that David has asked me to pass on to you. He is the zerochlor expert and would certainly be more qualified to answer your question than the members on her although they have all been very helpful. There could be a combination of reasons and as David has experienced many of the issues with pools and pool maintenance companied not having the best experience with zerochlor, he woulkd certainly be my first point of call. You can also skype David if that is preferable for you. His skype name is : zerochlor

Not just the title philbailey, the zerochlor name is mentioned 3 times in the first post whilst the pool company is not. I also find it ironic that this posting occurs when David is not able to answer for himself and he is in dispute with certain members for continually making deflamatory remarks whilst quoting his company name although the subject matter has nothing to do with his company. This could of course be my false undesrtanding however a simple call to David would avoid this, if pembecik is truelly concerned about her pool I would have thought she would want to contact the peroon best suited to remedy this or at the very least state the pool company who David could than advise on what action to take.

I had no idea that Dave is not in the position to answer for himself, although he is listed at the top of the page as being signed in. I am in contact with my pool company, and they have reassured me that there is no problem with using Zerochlor. I am just trying to find out the cause of the problem as my freind was quite upset about it when I spoke to her this morning. I did say that usually the cause of clothes being stained is suntan lotion but don't know why this would affect her kids skin. I urge all my guests to shower before using the pool but kids don't take much notice unfortunately! This has happened before with previous guests, so maybe they are using the same lotion? I am in the UK at the moment, and at work so can't ring Dave as suggested (shouldn't be on here really!)

Also of course the sun will bleach your hair. I remember it used to send my hair a bit golden' (when I had hair) I'd even settle for yellow hair now !

I think the problem is that some people do not realize that zerochlor is the name of the company, and not just a product in a bottle that is bought off the shelf, so I am sure there was no intent in the opening post. Its like calling a vacuum cleaner a hoover which of course is the brand name........!!!!! I think the thread has been addressed now and should be put to bed otherwise we will all be accused of advertising for David.........LOL

Just a simple point. Do you shower before using the pool. ESSENTIAL. Shower before for pool hygiene and after for personal hygiene. tarry67, I am all for a bit of advertising for Dave. Top Man with a big heart. He's done so much for little Ismail. I have watched people at Hotels and communal pools, just jump right in covered in suntan lotion.

I am sorry David that I named your product it was just a spur of the moment thing after my friend called me, and I didn't stop to think that it was the name of your company as mentioned in message 17. I have been using your product for many months now without any problems and will continue to do so,but I was just after some answers from the forum, which now in hindsight was a bad move, and I should of contacted yourself. Its just a shame that as normal other people make things sound twice as bad on this forum but there is nothing we can do to stop this mentality. Proger: This is not aimed at you, and was not a malicious posting, and as and when I will contact David.

Thank you pembecik, I really do appreciate that you have not been offended by the way I phrased my posts. It is a refreshing change that someone realises that my point was not to attack anyone, only to try to filter out as you have so aptly put, potential malicious postings. In this case I am glad that I was shown to be incorrect in my suspicion. It is just unfortunate that due to so much criticism of companies based in North Cyprus by certain peoples that we see the bad side of a statement rather than the simple statement it was. Apologies for my mistrust of your original posts and again I thank you for clearing things up. I know for certain that David has an idea what might be wrong with the pool and would like to contact either yourself or your pool company to help resolve the issue. Thank you again.
