What a great meal we had last sunday lunch. Carrot and coriander soup, roast beef with all the trimmings, followed by orange cheesecake. Couldn't fault any of it, and all for 22ytl. Have been told this sunday it will be chicken liver pate, roast beef and to follow profiteroles. What more could you ask for from a village restaurant.

Good Info Norma Jean - have been there a few times during the week, and only thought they did local food (which was excellent, by the way).

Once again somebody has to have a go at someone who is trying their best to make a living. Yes, sevki does not do all the cooking on a sunday, he has a good british friend to help him.

Please do not criticise until you have tried it.

Nice to know we are thought of as his best cutomers, maybe it's because it's a great place to go. Actually, probably near three years.

Punk Rocker - I have eaten off and on at Tumba for the last two years and had good local food with good service and met some lovely local people. I am suprised to see such a negative response, in fact 'bitchy' springs to mind. I believe this is an experiment for local residents during the low season - I am sure it will be every bit as good as other eateries within the area.

wynardman,

I'm sure you will enjoy it, not far to get back to your villa. Just a drive down the road to your place.

You will always find local expats eating there, a sure sign that the food (and drink!) is fine. There are other eateries in the village and I'm not aware of any that are poor. Try Apricot (Crazy) for some local Turkish music, great fun! Esentepe Villa Hotel for good Brit food, Esentepe Restaurant for VFM local food. All highly recommended.

Coffer

Peter has started this rumour about the word Zerdali meaning crazy but it doesn't it means (wild) apricot as in the apricots are not the normal cultivars but a wild variety...

Senol's Apricot (Zerdali) Restaurant and Bar is however a really good place to enjoy a few drinks and a good meal...

Dont get me wrong Marilyn,

You talked up the Tumba and made it sound like an a-la-carte establishment, which it isnt, it is a normal, TC restaurant which it happens i like as it is but i dont really want to go there to eat carrot & corriander soup or roast beef, if i want these things i will go to the hotel, Kings or Steves place, us english have a habit of trying to change these places and thats precisely why so many are struggling, cos of the english who hang out in them and are always trying to change them, then three months later or sooner it is back to square one, surely you must agree, the tumba is a local restaurant let it remain so.

Nice to have the choice. I have also been to Tumba and love the local food but I also like the atmosphere and a roast dinner on Sunday! If he can accommodate then I would rather give my money than cook and additionally enjoy my surroundings.

Punk Rocker.

Sevki is running a business, and very well to. He must have realised that people were starting to go elsewhere on a Sunday lunchtime, so he is competing to keep his trade. Nothing wrong with that and very sensible. I'm sure if you want local cuisine he will still oblige, that's the sort of person he is. After all he's been doing 'British' style fish and chips for quite a while now and this hasn't stopped him doing his local food as well.
