Its a sign of how the board is going, they ban some for wrong reasons and leave the drivel talkers to keep on ruining the board, intelligence quotient minimal imho !

The freedom of speach is more likley prevented by your comments not agreeing with the moderators interests or philosophy.

At least one of them does not live here, to me that should be a prerequiste.

Now that a particulary biased one has resigned then at least some debates are continued.

I wonder how much of a ban this will earn me? but then the truth hurts.

Hippo

I'd rather have the stipulation that a moderator should have a modicum of common sense and not take part in debates they are moderating. Being Centre-forward and Referee does not convince me of their objectivity.

Yes I agree, but also think that they should be part of the permanent community here not a part timer.

I also think that they should declare any interest in any buiseness or friend etc.

At least the we love .......... crowd now have no stage to strut on.

I have no interest in any businesses in the TRNC.

Yes, I have many friends who both live there permanently and have holiday homes. However they all know that I have no favourites on here.

Msg 7 , Oh sorry , please remind me , who are you again ? . It may be of concern to Izzet , but my personal business is no concern of yours , but seeing that you are so interested i will tell you , i do not have any business interests in NC , i have made some very good friends over the years , and for that i make no apology . Do you have any businesses or friends in NC ??

It is difficult to ascertain the percentage of members (ie readers and not necessarily active posters) there are on all the boards who do not reside permanently on the island, but I imagine it is fairly high.

If it is OK to have members who have an interest in TRNC then why not have moderators who are in the same position? Maybe they are better placed to understand the viewpoint of non-residents?

In fact, the role of a good moderator is not to be that of an oracle; there is a wealth of knowledge of the subject among the members.

In its truest sense 'good moderation' of any board probably does not actually require an intimate working knowledge of the subject but rather different skills altogether.

No1Doyen........message 8 - "I have no interest in any businesses in the TRNC. "

That's true, why should you take an interest in 'any' business in the TRNC ?

Post edited - against the rules.

Remember where you are folks - the TRNC.

We all need to be sensitive to the local issues.

Free speech is fine - but stupidity in the name of free speech is just that, STUPID!!

Well what do you expect Hippo ? it was quite a personal request , i would never dream of asking that of anyone . I think ! { that's why i ask , who are you } , they should declare any businesses or friends , why don't you send your thoughts to Izzet . Next please !! You sound so arrogant , now i know that the spoken word is greater than the written , so if i am wrong i apologise

simbas...........if someone on the forum dont like a certain subject they shut it down.there by giving that person a sense of power.

"power is corruptible, absolute power is absolutely corruptible"

Message 20

Surely you mean:

"Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely"?

Msg 19, Simbas ....

It wasn't a personal request Simbas, it was a perfectly reasonable one.

As a forum admin you can edit/close threads, therefore it's only fair that you declare any personal interest such as owning a business/bar etc in TRNC. Doing so would actually strengthen your position as you would be seen to be open. Not doing so and 'growling' when asked simply leaces us all with a question-mark.

keldanreb - sorry; no luck with sorting out that one.

I did find this - what do you think?

"Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks".

Sadly, as we all know, this is not true. Should read "Teach a person to use the Internet and all you get from them are stupid bleedin' messages 24/7"
