Can anyone tell me where I can buy some good quality bath towels. All of the ones I have brought from the UK seem akin to cardboard! I am also wanting to buy a new set of good quality cotton kingsize bed linen. I have looked in Ikea and theirs are rubbish. There must be somewhere this side that sells good linen?

Thanks

Try the second floor in Toros in Girne.

Try Mermaid I am sure thats where I got mine. I do find though that even gallons of fabric softener doesn't work here as well as a UK tumble dryer with comfort sheets to fluff them up!

The shop that wanderer mentions has a second shop on the parade of shops next to Karakum Lemar. They have a full range of towels, all sizes and plenty of colours to choose from. The son runs this shop and the other one is run by his mother. Have bought from them and their prices are good

A little tip passed on to me by a friend who lives in TRNC. Try drying your towels during the night whenever possible. This does seem to alleviate the "crispiness" of drying them in direct sunlight.

Thanks Jeannie, I will try that! At the moment I am drying and exfoliating all at the same time ha ha.

Unfortunately Jeannie even that does not seem to help much. I dry my towels in total shade every time and they are still crispy and they cost me a fortune from House of Fraser. It's very annoying.

Hi BoTanica and joandjelly - yes, I know exactly what you mean! As you say, saves a small fortune on exfoliating products. I have taken cheap towels, expensive towels and everything in between to TRNC over the years and they all end up the same. I did find that drying them at night helped a bit, so good luck

we have ozdilek and chakra towels and they have remained soft for 3 years regardless of drying in the sun. Must be the fabric softener and detergent.

Bought egyptian cotton towels over 3yrs ago. stay soft and fluffy, in whatever conditions you dry them in.

These bought from The Curtain Shop, on the Girne to Alsancak road opposite side to Astro supermarket.

I find not washing them, and just rubbing soil into them occasionally to get rid of the smell helps.

By the way, does anyone know how to get rid of skin rash?

You will find Toros in the middle between the two water fountains in Girne right opposite Starling market.
