It might help (occasional) visitors to NCFP if the site manager explained in understandable English what's going on. If the site NCFP is under attack (again) - what more can the visitor expect at this moment than a "404 - Page not available"..?!

Just trying to be helpful Hans but as a luddite I havent a clue what you are talking about. Probably my age.

Having opened the booby trap and walked straight into it, I have just done a full virus scan and it tells me there is no threat . Beyond that I haven't a clue.

A laptop is just a means of communication to me, the inner workings remain a mystery and that suits me.

I've been told that I should explain what is happening to NCFP. The solution to the problem is simple but unfortunately my web admin had made some changes without informing me which means only he can delete the offending file. He's on UK time and I'm waiting for him to wake up!!!!!!!!!!

The site is reverting to Host Monster now - presumably the domain host. But the cached page from 5.00 am had an arabic looking header and said

"I Don'T SorRY AdmIN BecAuSE ThE SecuRiTY On YouR WeBSiTE Is Equ@l = 0%

Fixed! NCFP back temporarily but some protection changes I made will belatedly come in and take the website down for a few hours - this is not a hack just a slow response to some protective changes made just in case I couldn't fix the problem and to stop the malware.

No malware found on NCFP, so far, but we'll keep an eye on it. There was a file which when clicked on took people to a nasty site. That file has been removed.

@ msg 10, malsancak: That file must have been uploaded by the hacker. From a recent experience: have you changed your FTP-password?

Dutch, even I don't know my ftp details for reasons I won't go into. The hack was because of an unprotected server folder which I've discovered results from a "poor" software installation. In other words, you install the software and it unprotects the folder and leaves it that way! I've now protected the folder in all my websites. The hack is so simple that I've even done it to myself accidentally and wondered why my website didn't work. I obviously don't want to publicly describe this hack as the software in question is being used on 15% of websites around the world. As much as I've hated computers for 30 years, it helps to know the enemy!
