What you'll 'hear' often depends on whether the person is selling or if they ae misguided as to the options / pitfalls:
So here's the options as *I* see it - note - no link to a company..
1/ FreeSAT UK - 4.2m option for BBC / ITV /C4 / Five, etc - NO subscription - dish can be shared
2/ SKY- 1.8m option ( if well installed and a good dish) - ITV with a subscription or a on off payment for a FREESAT from SKY card - you can't get BBC1-4- but you CAN access many sporting / muscial / big events via BBC News 24 and using the red ( interactive button )
3/ Nilesat - a) 1m dish - 8 plus decent Free Eng lang channels - inc movies
b) same dish but paying for ARAB TV services ( OSN or Abu Dhabi TV) - at least two 'suppliers' on the island - neither are official- and a risk you could be cut off - so insist on paying by credit card and asking for a guarantee of a refund if you lose any part of what you've paid for

| 4/ Internet: a) using a UK Virtual Private Network - there are various suppliers - some give a free UK VPN with their service... check for other folk close by who recommend their service - as coverage varies
b) using a Sling box service - freesat channels without a dish
5/ Turksat and
6/ Nova Cyprus
The accredited local sat tv cos.. also showing sports and movies packages - the latter is in Greek and English and the former in TR / Eng
If you want proper BRITISH then options 1, 2 and 4 give the best variety..and no adverts/ subtitles in Arabic ;) |
