Vocalzone Saves the Day

On Sunday 18th September as part of the Girne Festival 2011, a new group of local singers with live instrumental accompaniment will be saving the day. The new group called “Vocalzone” will be offering a trip down memory lane with its show “As Time Goes By” - an evening of songs, going back to the 30's and up to present day with solos, duets and some audience participation, led by Francine Ash.

The Festival Organisers were left with a last minute cancellation and Vocalzone stepped in to fill the gap.

All proceeds go to Charity - The Cheshire Home/ Girne Rehabilitation Centre.

“As Time Goes By” is on Sunday 18th of September starting at 7.30, at the Girne Municipal Theatre near the Market Place. Price 15TL.

Reservations can be made at Molly’s Cafe on a Wednesday or Carpenter’s Market on a Friday between 10.00 and 1.00. or by phoning Grahame on 0533 843 3554

Marion,

The theme of the evening is Time.

"As Time Goes By" includes "Those Were the Days", "Yesterday", "Ah Yes It Remember it Well", "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and many more popular songs.... an evening of nostalgic music with live accompaniment............ no backing tracks.... a karaoke free zone!

Do you need any more information?

By the way "As Time Goes By" is a charity event and is part of the Girne Festival 2011.

thanks Joe. Oh dear - a karaoke free zone - does that mean there is no karaoke, or does it mean free to join in, cos I would embarrass everybody because I know all those songs, almost backwards - definitely nostalgic, and maybe fortunate that you won't have the embarrassment of my joining in, cos I already have a diary date, but I will try to spread the word. Great to have music without backing tracks - just people singing like the good old days (or should that be as in Good Old Days , that well loved programme!?)

Marion,

You will be pleased to learn that there will be audience participation.

When I said a "Karaoke free zone" I was indicating that no backing tracks would be used. All the music is live.

Sorry you won't be there to enjoy the evening.

Joe

" The Festival Organisers were left with a last minute cancellation and Vocalzone stepped in to fill the gap. "

This is why we have not been able to advertise it very much. Please come and support us and give us a confidence boost ready for our concert at the Abbey. It will be very much appreciated.

The new Theatre is wonderful so do come along and experience it.

MAYBE i SHOULD TRY TO REARRANGE MY DIARY AND BRING MY HYMN SHEET! (Metaphorically). Actually I feel a bit guilty because I was supposed to be arranging a 'classical'night, but couldn't do it in the time frame, so maybe I owe you support!

Is that song in my heart the one that says 'with a song in my heart, I behold your adorable face - just a song from the start.....' and goes on to say 'as the music swells, I'm feeling you near to me ' and 'at the sound of your voice, heaven opens its portals to me,l can I help but rejoice that a love such as ours came to be..' if so, canI join in! But we mustn't make our partners feel jealous!

Marion,

Seeing that you know the song so well are you offering your services as a soloist?

Hello Agnes,

Kismet singers, a new group, is performing at Bellapais Abbey on Thursday, 22nd September with their "The Magic of the Musicals". It is a sell out and has been for several weeks.

FYI , by popular demand Kismet Singers are putting on a repeat performance in Octonber. Details will be provided later.

I believe the thread was about Vocalzone who are performing a nostalgic evening of songs on Sunday at the Girne Muncipality Theatre and would like your support.

Apologies to all our enthusiastic supporters, but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we have been forced to postpone our Vocalzone concert “As Time Goes By”.

We will let you know the new date for this concert as soon as we can.

TOPIC CLOSED.

Oh dear, what a shame. What happened. and the invitation of message 21 had me scuttling into my shelves of music to dig out 'with a song in my heart' which is kinda ancient now. But unfortunately I would have had to refuse due to a very busy sunday, and now it is refused me! But would I have trhe courage to sing solo after asuch a long absence = I thinki I would need months of rehearsals. But thanks for the offer - but as I said, even if I wanted to, i couldnot;' and now I certainly cannot.

Let me know when you are planning another programme and perhaps I could shake the dust off the music, gather up ,my courage, clean up my party frock and join you. Hope you don't have too many disappointed people for Sunday.
