My TC neighbour has just told me that his dog has gone missing from Karsiyaka near the Lapta border. If I understand him correctly (he has little English and I have no Turkish) he has not seen the dog for 10 days. It is a boxer (maybe/maybe not pedigree) and light brown in colour - I don't know the sex. It is well cared for and in good condition - although it might have lost some weight by now. I told him to contact KAR but maybe somebody has seen it or taken it in.

A dog answering this discription was seen at the restaurants by the nightclubs in Karsiyaka on Monday night. I will be going there tonight for the turtle release. Will ask about it. It was a bitch by the way.

Thanks dorothea/Teepee. I went to pass your news on but apparently the missing dog is male. Another detail is that it is on the small side for a boxer.

The boxer's companion was a big shaggy German Shepherd. He is still at home. Home is just below the Karsiyaka cemetery.

Thanks lilyross. I will pass that on tomorrow - with the proviso that it is not certain. We have some English neighbours who, despite all our complaints, insist on putting out a lot of bread for the birds - on the ground, not on a bird table. Consequently for the last 6 weeks we have a growing plague of rats - their immediate neighbour killed 6 in 1 week. Having complained to Lapta Belediye they put down a lot of poison. I think this might explain what has happened. Also now, because of the rats, we are seeing a lot of snakes.

Thanks but following earlier posts and information the owner received as a result, it is confirmed that the one I was looking for is dead.

Msg. 11 J.J please, please try and persuade your English neighbours not to put food on the ground, for reasons you have said. Then show them the article in last Wednesdays C2D (front page). I know they are feeding the birds (and I love birds BTW) but they musn't put food on the ground - it's a definite no-no here because of the huge increase in the rat population. If possible please report the poisoned dog to KAR so that the area can be spotlighted on their website.

We have all tried and it has just resulted in major bad feeling. They are have rights! - and of course no responsibilities. The location of the poison wouldn't affect anybody walking a dog. Nobody ever walks on our road and anyway it is in fenced back cgardens. The unlucky boxer was a local dog and wandered around fairly freely.
