Does anyone feel that since they have moved to the Trnc, their health has improved, eg,do you get less colds/flu.do you suffer less pain with rheumatism, arthritus, asthma or other breathing problems?.I feel so much healthier and i havent had a cold for over 3 years although i will say,i am more accident prone since i moved to the TRNC,i put that down to the sun frying my brain.

Funny enough when we came out here in May this year we were full of aches, pains and sniffles and so on - 8 weeks later we lost our aches and pains etc felt very relaxed and years younger - went back to UK - as it was too hot in mid July for us - the wet, cold weather and lack of sun - all the old neck, back and leg aches have returned as well as a froggy throat etc - could it be lack of vitamin D? There is something in this I am sure. Coming back out shortly so hopefully a dose of sun and sea before winter sets in will improve our feeling of well being. Dont know about accident prone though.

bondi, the weather here does help all the aches and pains, it must be the lack of vitamin D in the uk,all that damp weather plays on a lot of folk,as for colds and flu,all our windows and doors are open every day of the year, unlike the uk. and i find once people over there start using their central heating, everyone seems to get ill.

dashak, lol that was funny

Perhaps we should get our GP to prescribe TRNC for our ills? That would send the NHS reforms into a tailspin.

Since we have lived here i would say we have been in good health

Apart from accidents

ie: falling down due to uneven pavements and high curbs

so needing hospital visits for fractures

wibow, you are right and we arent use to uneven pavements and high kerbs,i tend to walk with my head down now so i can see where im walking,it will just be my luck that one day i will walk into a lamp post.also we are not use to marble/tiled floors which can be very slippery when wet.ive already done a somersault on that, luckerly nothing broken, but a very sore head . glad everyones feeling more healthy

Perhaps one of the reasons you may feel better,is the Sun strength here.In the UK in winter it is impossible for the body to manufacture sufficient Vitamin D which is formed by exposure to UV light. Vitamin D is needed to build bone matter and so reduce Osteoporosis....

I think we also need to consider mental health, this place has driven plenty of people over the edge. Add to that cheap booze and fags, i don't think there are any long term benefits.

Vonny, I feel loads better in TC , sometimes here in GB, I have a real job to be active like I like being, but when over in NC, my arthritis, in my lower back and hips are not half as painful...

Sunshine and the warmth is like a tonic to me...

maybe so,blade but i do believe for many people here the stress level is lower.life is at a much slower pace where as in the uk everything is rushed.pensioners arnt stuck in doors so much glued to the tv,and yes,of course there are quite a few that drink and smoke more,

mambosun, hey, whats money when you have your health

If everyone is so healthy why do so many go back to UK for medical treatment? I am a pensioner I don't watch telly at all, I am out every day either in the garden or walking even if it is walking round town shopping. I go to watch my grandchildren playing sports whatever the weather, if they have to be out in it so do I, also watch Rugby League games not so bad for a 73 yr old with 2 replacement knees.

vonny,

I hate to interrupt your wonderful healthy life thread,

But you will never find out how many didn't manage to make their knee's or spine be better, the stress of losing everything either finished their life, or made fighting too hard for them to continue!

There are many! and the majority are decent honest people!
