OK I will make an educated guess.

The now defunct Silk Way restaurant just up the road from the Cyprus Queen Bar.

Is Silk Way big enough for all they intend to do? It looks quite small from outside.

That menu looks great, and I know having seen Al's show many times at different locations around TRNC his music will suit all tastes. It'll be good when The August Moon opens so we will know where to find his Cabaret act.

The "Silk Rd" looks completely forlorn - no one been near it for weeks and the "6" weeks are up!! Has the plan fallen through - like so many do?

It is to late in the season to open now, We filled the Roof Bar last summer it was the palce to be, it really was standing room only and people used to wait for tables,

But in Nov. Dec. it nosedived, as do most venues here, (there just are not enough punters to fill the exsisting bars )

Then you have the really hard time from Jan to May/June.

So I cannot imagine Al. wanting to open this side of next season.

My guess is is that if it opened now the loss between now and June would be around £20 K

I hope he can prove me wrong and I wish him all the luck in the world with the venture.

So whaat happened to the very short lived Silk Road. They must have lost a fortune . I never got round totrying it - it seemed to close before it started.

And it looks as if Cyprus Queen is now dead, so wiith the closure of these two, I reckon the locals willbe very happy for a short while, but agree with the poster above who commented about locals not being happy. Of course in Cyprus there is no planning, and anyone can find the ideal home/premises and have it change drastically in a matter of months.

So what is REALLY happening now as november approaches.

Al has no plans at the moment to perform at any venues on the island although he has had many request to do so. His last 2 gig's were at the Golf Club. One was a wedding on the lawns of the club and the other was for opening of the clubs new restaurant. But stay tuned Al August Jr will be opening his own place in TRNC at sometime in the future and that is possibly why he as not been seen performing lately, he's been looking at locations and planning this venture. Having seen some of the possible location for his cabaret club & restaurant I can only say which ever spot he finally choices, the venue will be a success. Offering great entertainment and good food all under the watchful eye of the man himself.
