Boats usually come out of the moorings at Delta marina in Girne at the end of October.

The Karpas Gate marina does all year round mooring.

If you ring this guy, Murat Cebi, he is my friend , but also the accountant and manager at the Marina. His English is very good and he will be able to help you with everything. You can mention my name - Eva

I went there the other day and had a guided tour. I must say its looking good.

We have been to the Delta Marina Kyrenia, today, and spoken with the Marina Manager, whoe name is Aycan Atis. The boats are not being taken out of the water, and it is possible to berth there. Aycan, pronounced Ijan, can be contacted on GSM053386187 Tel:03928155491/92/93 email :deltamarinacyp@gmail.com Hope this helps. It is also licensed, whereas Karpazgate is not yet licensed, and two young men were arrested and held by the police last month, having sailed from UK.

Well that's news to me that the boats are in the water all year. I think you better check that, mooring contracts say that any boat left in the water after the lifting date are not covered by the marina insurance.

I suggest you haven't seen the harbour when it is blowing a hooley from the East.

I would like some info on the incident that two men were arrested last month, I take it you are not referring to the incident end of June beginning of July.

Try the new marina in the Karpas.

Not too far from Bogaz (about 20 mins) and looks fab. Dont know too much about boats but looks like they have all new equipment and looks very well built.

Yea, but the Karpaz has no public transport and is in the middle of nowhere, but kyrenia has shops etc near by. On the other hand each has its own beauty. But don't forget that all customs paper work must be done at Kyrenia before you go on to Yeni Erenkoy. currently no shop, or launderette, but a super restaurant, and it gets a bit blowy there. \Magic spot, but maybe hiring a car would be good.

louthlass re your message 8 you need to GET YOUR Facts Right on the "arrests"

and en-light of what has happened in larnaca marina see Cyprus-mail news where 150 yachts may be forced to leave due to condition of marina and re- development work urgently need to be done and will be looking for berths else where ,

I do believe Karpaz bay marina is offering 50% of on berthing contracts now,

and as for launderette yes all the trial runs and washes where completed on Friday and i do know this as it was my clothes that where washed and dried in the new machines all that had to take place today was the final inspection and signing off and handing over to the marina

Great to hear that the launderette is now available. My info was received a couple of days ago. It will be wonderful when they get a small shop up and running too, but 'yavas yavas'. however, I know that originally it was free berthing for a year (so I was told) but maybe that offer is now 50%. still a bargain though, isn't it.

I think it is a question of which is the better place for the people concerned. and maybe by the time they get there full electric will be restored. And yes, it could become far more popular for as you say clipper, Larnaca is having to get people to leave, so Karpaz could get quite full.

Well please then tell us the real story about the arrests?

Now this is the real situation as regards Delta.

1. There will be no overwinter stay afloat in the marina.

2. There will be limited stay on the fuel pontoon for visiting yachts.

3. There maybe and i say maybe some space for yachts on the hard (this will not be a full time contract in the marina) so no tenure of stay after the winter.

4. It is quite likely that the period of boats afloat will be extended till the end of November (under discussion)

5. The marina management has requested that as regards questions on this board about Delta that I will be the spokesman.

I hope this is clear.

Karpaz gate is a wonderful facility and a great asset to yachting in Kibris but it still has some teething problems hopefully these will be sorted out shortly.

Clipper has your electricity and water problem being sorted out yet I believe you have none on the pontoon's?

I am also hopefully sorting out a get together

the water and electricity a decision has been made to relocate the electricity to now run down the center of the pontoons in cable trays and water to remain in existing location contractors managers from all parties involved in the construction of the marina had a series of meetings over several days last week and at the moment.

I would envisage that to make all these changes will take six plus weeks to complete before power and water is restored in the mean time those who require water and elect have been relocated to the break water wall where power/ water is available and those who stay on the pontoons the marina staff are bringing water to the boats .

I have to say the staff have been fantastic and if any of the yachties have required some thing like fuel food etc they have arranged it

The Karpas marina is new so has teathing problems but is closer to the Bogaz area. A car is the best bet and there are a few good hire companies near by. However, there is a local bus that goes from famagusta up to the Karpas, going past the marina. Dont know how often or how much but with a big university in Famagusta it is often full of students and passes right through Bogaz.

And with lots of friendly people around I am sure a lift wont be a problem.
