Have any of you tried Klepini Restaurant Arapkoy. Great family run restaurant with great food, and a great welcome. We have been many times and have not been disappointed.

Oldshep - I think you may have been unlucky the time you went as we have never had a bad meal there. Moussaka is fantastic as are the massive spring roll starters. Loads more on the menu. You should try it again, I am sure you won't be disappointed. Fikri really looked after our grandchildren which is nice.

We had a great meal at Tanners on Saturday ~ the place was very busy but the waitress was superb. Fikri spoke to each table in person at the end of the evening ~ which was a nice touch.

We love it there!

thanks kizzy yes it was a very busy night and you know i always try my best.

oldshep first of all i want you to know that you are the first person to complain about me and my food on this forum. i never say i am 100% good all the time as this is impossible but i am always behind the mistakes i make and definitely i speak to every customer personally and ask if everything is ok and if there is any mistake made i try my best to make it up for it so i wish you have told it to me as it doesnt sound nice the way you said it.

on the other hand you mentioned prawns in brown sauce as a main dish, only prawns i have is on starter prawn cocktail served with pink sauce so i started to think of you might be confusing me with another restaurant. but still i wish you have told it to me instead of talking like i charged you 180 lira for nothing.

as i said i am always behind my mistakes if i made

Yes, it sounds like a couple of ring-ins here, trying to scare up custom for other restaurants. I'll add my two-bob's worth here, as my wife and I have been to Tanners quite often, and have never, repeat never, had a poor meal. Apart from that, the saervice from Fikri and his lovely mother Sevil has always been warm and welcoming.

I can't help but feel that old shep is either misleading, mistaken or missing something, because his comments just don't fit every one of our experiences at Tanners. If he is genuine, and more to the point, accurate, then it would be a first for Tanners, in my opinion.

Four of us went to Tanners on Saturday evening, for 3 of us it was our first visit. I am afraid we will not be returning. We waited over an hour for our starters and we had only ordered garlic bread and bruchetta. We all ordered mousakka for main course, so not a difficult order but again it was disappointing. Sorry I know you had problems with your chef but the service was abyssmal. We were offered a free brandy and coffees but we had all had enough by then.

I'm sure the problem in the kitchen was a one off ~ these things do happen!

Fikri had the courtesy to come out of the kitchen to explain and apologise to each table in person and offer drinks to compensate for the delay in service ~ can't see what else he could have done. Fikri always does his best to make sure his customers are happy ~ and they usually are!

Perhaps give him a try again at a later date.

We really like Taners, have been going there for years and never faulted a meal or service, my only complaint would be, as non smokers ,we would like a "non smoking area" as the last time we visited we could not avoid the cigarette smoke. Actually, it is not really a complaint but a suggestion, other restaurants when eating outdoors pose the same problem.....over to you, Fikri, can you help us poor old non smokers out ?

I can't take old shep's complaints too seriously, as the shrimp cocktail isn't a main meal, and Fikri's mum Sevil is a wonderful cook anyway. But The Butler's wife, I'd be curious to hear why your moussaka was disappointing, for I've never tasted better in Cyprus, and I've read many other posters on this site who have said the same.

msg28,

There was hardly any meat in our mousakka, very little aubergine but plenty of potatoe. Now I know the recipe for this dish as when working I was a cook in a private household and made it often.

OK, The butler's wife, without getting too much into hair-splitting, one man's meat is another's potato. I prefer more potato and less eggplant.

Was your dish large enough, hot enough, tasty?

Although everyone can (and probably is entitled to) have an off day, as I said, I haven't seen a post from anyone yet who hasn't enjoyed their moussaka at Tanners, which is why I was surprised at your comment.

I agree with your comments Rottolover that you like the mousakka at Tanners and we didn't. You keep going to the restaurant and we won't. We are all entitled to our opinion and I am sure the owner will not miss our business, among all the satisfied customers on this thread. We will stick to the many good restaurants we know who serve excellent food to our taste.

msg 14 old shep.why is it that nearly all the post are positive ones regarding tanners tr.if there was a problem i would have told them and i know they would have rectified it.restaurants do get it wrong sometimes but just tell them if they do nothing or are not concerned tell them you refused to pay full price leave and leave your address and telephone no and its up to the restaurant to contact you and resolve the matter.i am sure fikri would not let you leave the restaurant without coming to a sat satisfactory conclusion to both sides. remember restaurants are here to please and want your custom back time and time again.so please contact him i am sure he will make it right unless you happen to either working for some other restaurant or just like a good moan now and again. also i have eaten there many times and with drinks etc never ever ever been overcharged.keep up the hard effort you and all your staff put in to tanners fikri most appreciate it.
