At the crossing you name I think you pass directly on to the SBA & I have not seen an Insurance office on that side as it is in effect UK territory.

Hope this helps

I am sure there is an insurance booth on the right when you cross through the SBA checkpoint

After going through passport control Turkish side a few yards on your left is the insurance office, not sure what time they open in the morning but they are certainly still open at 7pm.

The official closing time of the one going south is 9pm but they are happy for you to knock on their door quite a bit later.

Hi

Sorry a bit off the topic. I am flying to Ercan from Istanbul, and I need to enter the south side, I am a South african passport holder and my wife has a british passport. I have acquired a visa in my passport to enter Southern Cyprus, will I have trouble going from North to South? Any tips to help me get through? My flight arrives at Ercan at 23.35 so it will be quite late when I do cross the border, will it be open at that time of night? Will it be to my benefit to cross late at night or should I stay in the north then cross the next day?

Any info will help

Hi Alexj

in THEORY, you need to enter the 'rump' Roc - Visa or not - via a recognised port of Entry .. Ercan / Tymbou airport is NOT one...

*I'd* recommend you cross during daylight hours - with your wife - and claim you are the family member of an EU Citizen and have to be treated as if you ARE an EU Citizen... it's pushing the boundaries of EU Directive 2004/38/EC to the limit..

We have a member with a NZ wife and she crosses OK.. make sure you have a copy of your marriage cert. / proof of being an 'item' ..

Good luck
