With 6 games coming up this weekend in the pool stages I thought the rugby community here might like a bit of banter.

Saturday 17th 11.30am Australia V Ireland.

With Irelands recent poor form are they on for a bit roasting by Oz.

Sunday 18th 6.30am Wales V Samoa.

After Wales sparkling performance but defeat against S. Africa and Samoas points fest over Namibia it's going to be a tough game but will Wales find the wherewithall to take their first win.

Later that day at 9.00am England V Georgia.

Following a lackluster and unconvincing win over Argentina will 'The Sweet Chariot' have a easy ride to victory in the park after the Scots softened Georgia up just four days ago.

Then at 11.30am France V Canada.

Canada took a good win against Tonga and France were inventive against against Japan but looked a bit flakey at times, can the boys with the bushy beards upturn the onion cart?

Will the Webb Ellis Cup grace the trophy cabinet in South Africa again after this RWC seri

Oz vs Pads: roasted potatoes in the offing.

Taffs vs Headhunters: match of the weekend. Two of the best matches of the last World Cup were Wales vs Fiji and Wales vs Tonga. There's a rapport between the Boyos and South sea Islanders that makes for fast, aggressive high-scoring rugger.

The Home of Rugby (whatever the Kiwis might think) vs Georgia: lucky for us that the Scots did soften up the Georgians. Expect more weaknesses to be revealed.

Frogs vs Canucks: Mercurial, delightful Bleus will be unpredicatable as ever. But bear in mind they've made the last 4 in five of six of the previous tournaments - runners-up twice.

Msg 2 Nice post Gordon will the French continue such a run of bad luck?

Martin Johnson has made 9 changes for England's starting side against Georgia with Lewis Moody as captain.

A good solid performance by the World Champions, their structured and physical game plan denied Fiji doing what they do best, running with ball in hand and playing wide and open rugby. Final score.............

Fiji 3 South Africa 49

Would anyone have considered that the Irish would spoil the party in the way they did?

Ireland 15 Australia 6

mainly due to the Irish front five!

From what I've seen so far the AB's are suffering from premature peaking (yet again) and the SA's are on the ascendance with the Ozzies looking ragged for any sort of real challenge. I hope I'm wrong!

I'm glad Lambousa posted his post on his "Pundit" skills, or does his memory not tell him how many times The Pads have taken English scalps since 2003 more often than not, if my rugby memory serves me well, Im pretty sure, Yes I'm positive... Man of the match, my Namesake, no not Michael...

Ermmm,

But weren't the Pads playing the Ozzies today? It was on that line-up that I was commenting.

Never would have suggested that England would have given your mob a roasting today. Probably quite the reverse on our current form...

Its nice that you like to have a "nick name" for all the other teams involved in the World cup, shows a certain "style" I think !! Especially when the term (rugger) is used, ermmm ,me thinks! I know who we were playing today exactly, Aussies not Ozzies, Tri nations Champions I do beleive, If Johnson can get your Mob out of the late night bars and off the bungee jump they should have got rid of their hangovers to see off Georgia, and as for The Irish spoiling the party, if you dont understand that they have probably opened the door for the rest of the British Isle teams you dont know much about (rugger) really! Bet you call Twickenham Twickers or HQ !!Yah, have your mob got shirts that the numbers stay on this time ??

Ah mikey 53 is up for a bit of banter, did the 'party spoilers' touch a nerve? I do hope so or this thread would be a bit bland!

Gordon don't chastise yourself too much I would imagine that Declan Sidney had his money on Australia winning today! Talk about the luck of the Irish.

Will the Welsh enjoy a run of good fortune tomorrow too, or should the smart money be on Samoa?

It's easy to understand the sentiments of a 58 year old taxi driver from Bodmin, is that Moor or More?!

Going into the tunnel at Hamilton, Samoa lead Wales with a half time score of 10-6. Will there be an upset here for the Welsh in 40 minutes time?

No upsets for the Welsh today but I would imagine they will be more than just a tad disappointed with their performance over all.

A lot of sloppy errors on both sides but Wales just managed to do enough to scrape home.....

Final score Wales 17 Samoa 10.

A performance by Georgia that they should be proud of but clearly hampered by knocks and bumps from their recent game against Scotland.

Some electric moments of play by England's back and good solid work by the white forwards, final score........

England 41 Georgia 10.

No nerves touched, just celebrations in my camp! Is Declan Sidney by any chance meant to be D. Kidney ?? I love a bit of banter just not too much Patronizing that some feel the need to post with. Good job Kenya weren't in otherwise they would be the spear chuckers I presume ?!! Well done Wales the head shrinkers are never an easy game. The Taxi thing yes, its def moor not more in darkest Cornwall, need to escape pastie land... Les Bleu have just kicked off so might be a bit more running rugby, hopefully !!

A game that for a fair percentage of the second half saw France at it's unique best. A costly lesson for Canada, don't give away silly penalties especially when Morgan Parra is in kicking range. A game that was won by France but came very close to being just given away by Canada!

Final score ........... France 46 Canada 19

It took Italy to run in three tries to get Russia to take off their night caps, wake up and play with some passion. Russia then displayed some clever fast moving rugby for periods of the game but Italy were more sharp at the breakdown denying their opponents the opportunity of putting together a series of phases. The Russians gave away a lot possesion by handling errors and a lot of needless penalties that Italy capitalized on. Not such a bad performance by Russia when you consider it is their debut year in the RWC and they ran in three tries against a Six Nations side.

Score at full time Russia 17 Italy 53

(Can't remember the Russian replacement scrum half's name but a man to out watch for in the future!)

A rampant Springbok side ran in 12 tries against their neighbours Namibia. The underdogs did everything to the best of their ability and fought with pride and passion to the end but were outclassed.

South Africa 87 Namibia 0
