According to the Cyprus Mail

""IT WAS a lucky miss for one Nicosia resident yesterday morning as a Turkish mortar shell crashed through her roof and into her bedroom while she was at work."

"An announcement by the Defence Ministry described the shell as an “81mm, mortar projectile of Turkish origin”.

The shell was a blank ie no explosives in it.

Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders discuss judiciary- U.N. envoy

Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders discussed the issue of the judiciary in their meeting on Monday, the U.N. special envoy to Cyprus said.

Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat and his Greek Cypriot counterpart Demetris Christofias met on Monday for the 9th time in the buffer zone in Nicosia under the full-fledged talks aiming at finding a permanent solution to the Cyprus issue.

The leaders held a tete-a-tete meeting for about 50 minutes prior to the meeting of the delegations.

The two leaders had a fruitful and positive meeting, U.N. Special Envoy to Cyprus Alexander Downer said after a three-hour meeting between the Turkish and Greek Cypriot delegations.

"The mechanism for resolving disagreements" was not discussed in Monday's meeting but may be brought up for discussion at the next meeting scheduled to take place on Nov.
