| There is a great move now towards sustainable tourism Himalayan trekking is a long way short of that. Striping the mountain sides bare for timber to fuel the inns, local produce is consumed by the trecker leaving the local populace short in the off season. Litter of all sorts human and other is a growing problem. Before you commit to any of these type of holidays please make sure they comply with the new guidelines. This problem is not of course confined to the Himalyers but it is a growing problem in every emerging country. |
