Request for advice on transfer from Paphos to Alsancak

Hello All,

I'm trying to arrange flights for my daughter to come out from Edinburgh for a short visit soon. I've looked at most flight options to Ercan, but have found that most have too many connections, and/or long stop-overs.

I'm now considering booking her on a direct flight to Paphos with EasyJet, arriving at 18:20 on Wednesday 5th October, and departing at 19:05 on Saturday 8th October.

I've only been over the border once before, and that was just for a quick shopping trip. Can anyone give me advice on the best driving route from Alsancak, and some idea of how long it will take (at the legal limits)?

If anyone is travelling on these dates, could they let me know if their transport could be shared?

If any licensed Taxi companies offer a pick-up & drop-off service, could they please give me some idea of the time required, and costs?

Does anyone know of the Airport Service company that runs return bus transfers from Paphos to Nicosia? Where do they drop-off?

IBO taxis are good, the going rate usually £100.



Fly Easyjet from Edinburgh all the time great service, the flight nearly always arrives early so go sharpish to pick up.............30 to 45 mins early.



Allow 2 hours to drive, nice straight road all the way cant go wrong.



If your booking be sure to check jet2.com or thomas cook for last minute flight bargains,easyjet tend not reduce their flights by as much closer to time of travel.

Hi Eddie, Try http://www.birdrentacar.com send them an email or give them a call. I know what you are talking about flights from Scotland are a pain trying to get to TRNC espcially out of peak season. I have just booked flights easyjet from Glasgow-Stanstead, Pegasus Stanstead-Ercan jurney time about 14hrs that'S from airport to airport add another 4 hrs+ But when you get to SUNNY TRNC it's worth it.

Hello All,

Thanks to those who have replied here, and to Sal for his e-mail reply.

As the Paphos route just does not give her enough time with us (only three nights), we are looking again at bringing her into Ercan (five nights).

If we do decide to go ahead with the Paphos option, I'll probably just spend a full day down that way, having a look around the mountains. If anyone has any suggestions for the best route, please let me know.

Have recently been over the newest crossing at Yesilirmak on a trip to Polis/Latchi - it took a couple of hours to get from Lapta to Polis. You'd need to add on another half hour to get to Paphos. Very attractive and scenic route but not one to use if you're in a hurry or in the dead of night. Latchi has some really excellent fish restaurants.

There is a mini bus service that runs to and from Pahos airport and Nicosia (Greek side) cost is aprox 23 Euros one way called the InterCity Taxi Service run by Travel Express. They will pick up and drop off at Ledra Palace border crossing. You can look them up on the internet for further details.

Thanks for the information - I've just checked their website, and it states "WE DO NOT PERFORM AIRPORT PICKUPS WITH THIS SERVICE. AIRPORT PICKUPS ARE PERFORMED ONLY ON A TAXI PRIVATE-HIRE BASIS.(SEE - FARES TAXI PRIVATE-HIRES)". For 1 to 4 passengers, the private-hire cost is 137 Euros to Nicosia, which is just about the same as I've been quoted for a TRNC Taxi to Alsancak.

We've booked the flights now, so I'll probably just drive down myself, and do a bit of sight-seeing. We may send her back down in a Taxi on Saturday.

Hello All,

I'm planning a driving trip down to Paphos airport on Wednesday afternoon, and should be very grateful for any suggestions as to the best route from Alsancak.

My daughter's flight arrives at 18:20, so I'll be crossing the border early on Wednesday afternoon, on the way down, then around 21:00 on the way back North.
