Hi All,

Thought I would report back about the Sunday roast at Club Ilgaz - everything was perfect, starters, mains, dessert and also very good service.

We hadn't been back since it changed owners/management but it is still excellent and in my opinion one of the best restaurants here

Looking forward to going back for dinner in the future

Re message 2, the directions are as follows:

take the road opposite Mamba Bar in Alsancak towards the mountains. Ilgaz village is about 3 to 4 miles up the road; you will see a name sign of the village. At top of village bear right and the entrance to the Restaurant/ Club Ilgaz is shortly on your right.

Meals and service are excellent... not just Sunday lunch. Suggest you book for Sunday lunch as numbers are limited.

Name of restaurant I believe is now The Moon and Sixpence.

I quite enjoyed not having any children there- I know they aren't all screaming brats but if you don't have any of your own sometimes you want to be only in the company of adults

It was very busy on Sunday so clearly some others agree

Maybe they should make a kids club next door and then everyone will be happy

The food and staff are fantastic. We've been loads of times both Sunday lunch and mid-week - no complaints whatsoever!

The food is beautifully cooked and you get a really warm welcome from the staff.

Well done!

Quite agree Msg 9 - there are plenty of places to eat that take kids so what's wrong with only one place that I know of that doesn't allow kids in???

I was under the impession that Cyprus was child friendly, but perhaps it is a Cypriot thing, from this thread it appears we have our share of anti-children ex-pats.

As Message 10 said there are lots and lots of places that are kid friendly & promote this (for example The Lodge has all those kids activities available)

Why can't someone do the opposite and promote themselves to adults dining out with other adults

I would assume most of the 'anti children' comments are from people who are not anti children at all.. I'm not anti children for a start but I like a break from them!

Looking forward to trying the restaurant for lunch soon

Anyone have a phone number so we can book for this Sunday. A good adults only Sunday lunch sounds just the job!

It was couple of weeks ago that we turned up at Ilgaz Club on a Sunday with our 6 year old daughter, we did not book though. As soon as we sat down on our table, we have been told by the staff that children not allowed under 12, but on this occassion we would be welcome. I was a bit uncomfortable and upset at first, but I respect and understand the policy, anyway, we had our lovely meal. It was the best Sunday Lunch we had so far, as we agreed with my husband. Our daughter was so well behaved and she got a very big `well done`by the staff. It is a pity that we cannot go there often- we really had a good time, nice and peaceful, lovely food. I respect all others who wants to enjoy nice and quite, peaceful lovely setting place with nice food. And I must add- the children want to be where they can meet and play with others. So I guess, Lodge and Ezic it is for us ) and special occasions Ilgaz it is for us two )

Message 18, that really is a shame about the no Children, As you say it is a beautiful place and like I said in a previous post, the best Sunday lunch my wife and I have ever had out.

The Staff and managment are first rate, But it is a shame that people with children cannot also enjoy it.

Sorry, Hubby & I try to visit places with no children.

There are so many places which welcome them it is not a problem. When our grand children come to stay, we look for child friendly places!
