How will the change in the law work?

Our dog had a weekend in the kennels and I noticed Guido's staffy there. Margret says that the dog is going to the UK in January, so do you just get a pet passport and go ?

I think it will be via France with pet passport & the usual blood tests available to travel after 6 months from rabies free test.

Does this mean liz and Guido are not returning to trnc ?

Have a look at KAR website as they have the up to date info on there.

We are just getting a street dog ready to go and live in UK. She has to have 2 rabies jabs/rabies blood test 1 month after the 2nd jab - if that is ok then she will be eligible to travel to UK 3 months from the blood test. She will be wormed/frontlined and will have her parvo/distemper vaccinations here and all being well she will go to her "forever" home in UK at the end of Jan - no quarantine.

The main problem is how they travel into UK as there is no approved route/airline from here yet. Hence why they need to go via France (or another EU country) and then UK.

Do France recognise the TRNC, or is it a "Back door Job"?

Can they not travel via the ROC?

Hector, I don't think they (dogs-Cats) are allowed to cross into the ROC.

i know its not the same now , but when i took my dog from Turkey , he was flown to Germany , Via Izmir, then onto Holland by car , he spent 6 months in Holland with friends, then my husband took the ferry to France and drove to pick him up, unfortunately he died on Sept 1st this year :( (14yrs old)but so glad we took him out of Turkey.

So maybe that given the new law , they will have to get them to Turkey then fly onwards?

It is not a case of France recognising TRNC - France will simply be complying with the new legislation - providing all the requirements for the dog/cat have been carried out and the relevant paperwork is completed - there will be no problem and no it is not "by the back door".

It would be great if ROC would allow animals to go over to them and then onwards to UK but they won't and i doubt they will in the near future.
