I'm enquiring because apparently this is our new maintenance company and I would like to know something about them.

Are they a new company or do they look after other sites.

Never heard of them Brend and we get around to the vast majority of sites(Mr FLY-fly screens)

If you are concerned, ask to see the FATURA book(receipt book)this should have the trading name, address ,tel No. and the TRNC company trading number -eg ours is MS 9846.

Make a note of these and check out with the EMPLOYMENT OFFICE or the OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING.

How come they are on site and you do not know who they are???who has employed them ???

i hope no-one has paid up-front if things are not as they should be.

Good Luck Brend.

They have just informed us that the committee met and decided to give it to Blue Rain Trading. They have give us figures that suggest that Blue Rain are nearly 50% cheaper than FCC. There is the worry. Who are Blue Rain? IMO FCC did a good job but as we are only out there twice a year we don't get to know very much!!

If we were kept better informed we might not worry so much. Giving your hard earned money to a company who no-body knows is worrying so I think I will be better paying monthly from now on.

I have now been told that Blue Rain Trading Is a "property and alternative investment company that has been trading in the TRNC since 2009 mostly with turkish speaking but also with British expats." They "also manage 3 sites in South Cyprus"

They are tendering nearly 50% less than other companies.

The owners have not had a vote on this company. The committee has decided between themselves that that is the company we will use. They are asking that all owners pay into their bank the full amount of maintinance money as soon as possible. Am I being unjustifiably suspicious or would you just pay up and ask no more questions?

If it is a registered Ltd. company it should have a registration number prefixed MS...

If it is a registerered partnership it will have a number beginning KK......

If it is simply a registered company (without being a ltd. company) it will have a number beginning TU.....

If it has none of these numbers and is trading under a name other than the owner's name, it means that it is not registered at all. In such cases you can sue the owner but they cannot sue you unless they obtain prior permission from a judge.

Well i wouldnt pay anything until i was satisfied that they were genuine. If every one refuses to pay they would have to pull out anyway as there would be no money to pay their fees which take priority. They pay themselves first before any bills or repairs etc. If you dont have a contract that says you must pay community fees then dont. Its a bit much asking for the full amount when you dont know them.

Our experience has been one maintenance company fell out with developer and left. Next one was appointed by developer and developer persuaded many to pay up - the maintenance company then disappeared with all the money - nothing heard of him since then.

Now the suggestion of a maintenance company is met with total scepticism and most property owners seem to have decided that they will do nothing until they have their kocan (deeds) which is probably sensible, providing there are no pressing maintenance issues. Simple things like pool maintenance can be dealt with by the owners who are resident.
