Just drove a car from UK with a 12 months tax disk. Customs gave stamp and said in 1 months time go to the customs office in Lefcosa for an extension…..Any one know what will happen next, we intend to take the car back to the UK in 12 months time.

You need to go along to customs office with all the documentation there is a woman in an office round the back who will help you then you need to plead your case for an extension like everything its at their discretion I got 10months, some get more some less, its like z plates that dont exist yet you still see people with them

You will need to go to the imigration offices in Lefkoşa to obtaın a copy of your 'in' & 'outs' (Goverment Stamps required) before you go to the custom ofices. Take those, the paper work issued when landed in the TRNC, Passport, UK Registration doc, tax disc and TRNC Insurance cert to customs office. Smile, be patient and ......

Its been a couple of years since I did it but I don't think it has changed.

Good luck

I can tell you what happens of you don't go back and get the stamp in time, they impound your car, fine you lots and lots of moolah, then make you register the car immediately or export it there and then....worn the T shirt thanks to a very stupid agent at the Ferry Terminal who said go to customs in one year and pay the duty".

on the lefkosa by pass merc dealers on the left when you turn in just up on right side through the gates up the main steps turn left door on left unless they,ve had a move round

Ins and outs from police station passport and copy of passport you can go before your month is up,They then gave us 4 month asked for 6 as we would be in the Uk when the date was due and they obliged

11 months on imported the car officially no problem

Any details of the routing that you took from UK to TRNC, and any lessons learnt? Trying to plan the same next month myself!

message 7 you do not have to pay duty if you have current road tax for the UK

Feel free to email me colinhague@hotmail.co.uk . Drove car to TRNC March 2010 and returned to the UK May 2011. Can tell you the route, tolls, vignettes, insurance etc charged along the way and the procedure for keeping a vehicle in the TRNC for a year.
