I take it by Cyprus, you mean the TRNC?! A lot of people on this forum slate North Cyprus, but personally I much prefer it to the UK - much less stifling - although it has deteriorated as a result of people trying to make it more like the UK. But I am a lot older than you and retired.] Depends what you want from life? If I was your age, single and without family responsibilities and money worries I would say ................ neither ! I would want to see more of the rest of the world and hopefully find somewhere that offers more opportunities than either Cyprus or the UK! From saying "move to the UK" rather than "move back to the UK" I assume you are Cypriot. Does it have to be either or?? Why not go to the UK for six months or a year and find out how you like it? It also depends how much money you have - or can earn - have you thought about things like work permits? The UK is a much better place if you can afford to live in one of the nicer areas.

Hi BizziLizzi, Thank you so much the comment ! I'm in North Cyprus, I love the natural beauty of this country, the weather and so on and that is what has kept me staying here for so long. I used to live in the UK so yes, moving back but because it has been such a long time it feels like a new place to me again. I have never worked in the UK. I have no responsibilities what so ever. I'm currently working here but cannot save up. It may be an excuse because I want a different life, I don't know. I want whats best for me and that is hard to see at the moment from where I am.

I've been here for 5 months and I'm also 26. I moved here from London as I married here and we decided that nc was better for us. In terms of saving, in London u may earn more but ur outgoings are more. Whereas here u earn less, it works out the same. I am working here and I have worked in the uk too. It depends what you want to do. I you want to travel see things etc then move to uk. If you want a more relaxed lifestyle then stay. But I don't see harm in trying ) good luck

A new study just out puts the UK as the worst place in Europe to live. This study has places the UK bottom because it has less holidays than the rest of Europe. cost of living is higher, spending on health and education as well as less sunshine amongst other things. The problem with living here is that ex pats are unable to get work and those who do get work want UK wages. The choice of which of the two countries to live in does depend on your financial situation.

Hi,i think only you will know whats best for yourself, you are only 26 and probably feeling a bit fed up at the moment and wondering what route to take in your life, but is the uk a really good idea? work isnt easy to get there at the moment and rents are pretty high, you wont find anything less than £400 pw in london,do you know anyone in the uk? because although it is a big place it could be a lonely place for you,and if you have kids in the future,is it a place where you would be happy for them to be brought up?whatever you decide i wish you the best but its something only you can decide

| Hi unemployment among younger people is very high in the UK and will probably get worse in the short term.If you are thinking of coming to the UK make sure you have some prospect of work first or you could be in for a hard time here. The TRNC is not a bad place to live and if you are happy there I would sit tight and wait until things are better in th UK. | Hi mambosun is right, but i feel much more secure living in the UK, although the north cypriot people are lovely i'm sorry to say but some of the Brits that live in North Cyprus are irritating to say the least, quite happy here thanks x |

you dont have to go to London try the south coast, very pretty scenery..loads cheaper...more sunshine than anywhere else in UK.........if you want security and save a bit i would say UK but it all depends on you really want , are you trained in anything ...do you have an idea of work etc..its a hard choice but essentially only you can make the choice ....;) the problem with here is that wages barely cover the basic living costs....in 11 years ive never been able to save !!!

The problem with North Cyprus is , unless you are a specialist and/or particularly dedicated to a career there are limited job opportunities .. But there is also high unemployment in the UK. Have you done any research on this? You could probably access some employment agencies on line. And accommodation - are you thinking about staying with family/friends. If not you should also look at estate agents and get some idea of what it will cost you to rent or buy. I think on balance it is probably easier to be poor in Cyprus!!! Harder than it used to be because the newcomers are raising expectations and prices, but there is still a lot you can do cheaply or even freely (swimming, walking etc) outdoors, whereas in England - unless you are the clubby type and that can come very expensive - you will be stuck indoors with the tele in bad weather.

Are you female? I have problems driving at night because of the traffic and lack of consideration by large car drivers, but when I do venture out it is with windows open and doors unlocked. In England police advice was for a lone female driver always to keep doors and windows locked and not to leave the car in the event of a breakdown, and I can walk about my village at night without a second thought - I would be very nervous to do that in England. Oddly we take for granted freedoms in North Cyprus that have been lost in most of the UK

Message 1. It depends on what your priorities are. You should draw up a list of all the good things of living here. Then draw up a list of all the bad points of living here.

Thank you to you all. We have a house in London, if I were to go I would probably stay there but I have heard from so many people that england isn't like how it used to be job wise. I must rethink. Msg 7- My idea was to ask the audience, calling a friend will only show me things from one position. I want to see things from every position to get a clear picture . My only aim now is to see the world slowly, but finding it hard to do that living here. I have been in Tourism for 5 years.

Yes I see the point now - it is easier to travel from the UK (assume you have British passport?) than from TRNC, though think of all those busy airports probably miles from where you live. Only you can decide but think about getting a job that involves travelling or take a gap year and work with a voluntary organisation overseas:? If you are in tourism already it could look good on your CV.

Your right wynyardman! I have already started regreting leaving the UK. Not because Cyprus is bad, it's a beautiful island but only if you have enough money to enjoy.
