I have always used top of the range cordless De Walt but am due a new one and am confused as to the best general purpose drill for an avid D I Y er. I generally buy from Screwfix. Any comparison details would be welcome.

I could even tell you where the De Walt shops are in several cities and towns in the world. Sad or what?! As hubby generally likes to have a nose in them, I know sad! The one in Funchal, I recall, was a good one!!!!!!!!!!

He says though that it's down to personal preference they are both much of a muchness. His current one is De Walt as it was on a very good offer from Screwfix and it was brought out by a friend.

His advice is that whichever you choose you should have two batteries for it though

Make sure you get one with lithium batteries.Dearer but after being idle for 6 months they still have all the chage left in them.

Thanx for some good advice. Weight is now a consideration when on overhead jobs so will probably go for the Makita kit rather than my old favorite the XRP Dewalt.

I found the best way is to let someone else do the job ! but the black and white makita small drill and impact driver is the best tools on the market for pro and Am use, hope this helps
