There it is again, the greedy, the organisers should make it compulsory that selling should not start till 8.

Otherwise make it open from the start.

Sorry Hippo, I don't see the point of your post, how can the organisers stop the bargain hunters, no one is turned away, they can turn up at 7am if they want and set up their boots, if the organisers start to act like dictators then the jovial atmosphere that is present will soon disappear!

Hippo,

It is impossible to stop buyers coming early, the reason we say 9am is to give the booters a chance to set up.

Thanks for you comment which I take on board and will give it some consideration for the future.

The reason I posted was, you would encourage more people to come if you had a stated selling time.

It is not worth comming if all the decent bargains are sold before you open.

It is similar to auctions and house sales, they advertise it being on a certain day but when you turn up you often find that the item you were interested in had been sold days ago.

Just a thought?

PS to the sellers you may find you get a better price if there are a number of people interested, instead of the lone early buyer.

I can't see how that would work Hippo, as once the sellers have set up, they have a wander around to the other stalls and obviously if they see something they like, then they buy. They have to go "a wandering" before the buyers arrive, because then, they are back at their tables/cars. It's the same at all the markets, and most people know that if they are really looking for bargains they have to get their early. The charity coffee mornings are different, as you have to pay an entrance fee, and that does start at the time stated.
