I have a dish on the house that I have just moved in to. Hubby has tried and can get a good signal for both Nilesat and Bader satellites but the signal quality is very poor.

I'm wondering if there's an engineer out there who can help us with tuning it in properly and what will it cost?

Also, I'm familiar with Bader but not Nilesat. Are there a decent number of free channels on Nilesat? What about films (English would help!).

Hi Pippie

I'm somewhat confused..

Nilesat is at 7 degree WEST and Badr is @26 degrees East ... 333 degrees apart ?!

What size dish have you got..

Here's a site to help:

On Nilesat @ 7 degrees west - there are quite a few free to air channels in English

http://www.lyngsat.com/nile.html

http://www.dishpointer.com/

Enter your location

AND the dish you want to point at

either badr or nilesat

Failing that you might try to contact Acip

acipakcag@hotmail.com

Good luck !

re msg 8

line three - the satellites are thirty-three degrees apart ( not 333 ) - must not type late in the evening without specs..sorry.

This means one dish can't catch the signal from both satellites

Hi 6m, just to clarify, we've been fiddling with the dish in all directions so yes you're right about the distance between Nilesat and Badr. We'd be happy with either of these and can pick up the signals for both when the dish is pointing in the right direction without any problem. The problem is getting a decent quality of signal to be able to tune in to the available channels.

Tonight hubby has been able to tune in to Badr but we're getting Syria and Kuwait TV only which is not a damn bit of good for me. Previously we had Badr with lots and lots of channels in English, Al Jazeera and BBC World News.

Thanks for the other (sensible!) comments above, I'll contact a technician for help.
