Hello All,

Is it possible to arrange the required insurance in advance, so as to avoid issues at the border crossing?

I'll be making the return trip from Alsancak to Paphos twice in the next week, and wonder whether cover can be arranged for the whole period, in advance.

As ever, all replies appreciated.

Cheers,

Eddie

Of course it can - just nip over the border some time his week and get your documentations sorted for the next month

cyprusbreeze is right, although you have to be careful to make sure your MOT (if applicable) for the south is up to date too..

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

Does anyone know whether the insurance can be arranged through a broker in the North, in advance?

To get your MOT the car has to be at the border post/crossing. You can not get insurance unless you have the MOT certificate.

The MOT certificate is issued without a full inspection of the vehicle BUT one of the guy's in the office may just take a quick glance at it. My friend went with me to the south and decided that he would get his MOT when we were crossing but was asked where his vehicle was and they refused the certificate when he told them it was not there.

If arranging in advance, is it any cheaper to pay for a year up front?

Would someone please let me know how much this "MOT" for the South costs?

The MOT is free, you need to have your car, log book and driving licence to get it. Once you have the 'MOT' you can ask the insurance people to post date your insurance document although not sure how far in advance they will date it. If you search the forum you will get the exact office hours but it's roughly 7.30am until 2pm Monday to Friday. They are closed at the weekends and ROC public holidays.
