Many of you will know of the small market at Carpenters in Karaoglanoglu. This market was started almost 6 years ago by Maureen Hutchinson who is famous for her orchid walks and for being a good ambassador for tourism in the TRNC. Well Maureen, I am sad to say, is currently in the UK, where she is fighting a very aggressive form of cancer and her Friday market, that she loved so much is struggling to survive. We need more stalls to attract more customers, so this is an open invitation, especially to car booters, as there is a big car parking area. It costs nothing to run a stall and I can't understand why more people do not take advantage of that fact! Please come and support us, we are a very friendly bunch and you will be made most welcome, we want the market to still be there for Maureen to come back to.

If you want more details contact me on 0533 830 5375. Remember - it is a free market!!

I can't understand why more of the Lambousa stall holders don't move to a Friday at Carpenters. There are areas of the Lambousa market that are no better than a badly run Jumble Sale and some of the articles on sale are just filthy second hand unwashed clothes. Ghastly.

I would just like to wish Maureen well. I'm sure the Carpenters will keep going, its so well established now and of course free !!!

Unfortunatly I work on a Friday so can't come and have a stall. But its a lovely place and the stall-holders are friendly.

People should give it a go.

Get well soon Maureen xxxxx

So sad that Maureen and Tony able to come to the market. We all wish Maureen well, and we should keep the market going for her,she is a fighter so come and join us. We need stall holders to come but also customers too.

So on Friday morning when your sitting there wondering what you should do pop along and see us. We have David well know for his pickles and jams, Tina for pasmina's, Mister pie man, Linda latest dvds, cards puzzles, toys, children's books etc. Ann has her cards which can be made to order, Maxine has a selection of clothes shoes and jellewery, and or course Betty with her homemade products. Hope to see you there.

It looks like the Carpenter's Market will go down the same road as the Pegasos Market (Veli's Place near the Lemar Supermarket in Karaoglanoglu) some 6 or 7 years ago.

For newbies in Northern Cyprus: the "Pegasos Market" was the place where Maureen & Co had a stall (for free), but where they suddenly left, taking some stall holders with them, to start the "Carpenters Market" on the same Friday morning weekly.

It was the beginning of the end of the first free expats market at Veli's Place.

My heart is bleeding for the Carpenters Market.
