As so called 'sat experts' have been trolling my posts on sat tv stuff - and purport to not want the environment spoilt by large dishes - so I thought I might investigate -'greener solutions' - to avoid having to use swimming pool chemicals - AT ALL..

Now it seems ( in the UK ) it is possible to convert an existing swimming pool to be green and chemical free..

I wonder if this is the sort of thing folks would be interested in having in Cyprus?

It would be great.

The set up costs would help the people of cyprus if you know them so they could make a choice to move from chlorine to a chemical free pool.

I am all in favour of such new green products.

At present in cyprus i think alot of people did not ever realise the costs involved in owning a swimming pool.

Some people say they can do this with plants .

I don't think that will work in cyprus, wrong climate, and it would cost to much.

I would guess it's not completely safe.

But looks the dogs bollocks.

Stelee

That is an old system been around for many many years in some European countries ,david looked at one of these pools in Hendon about 6 years ago ,great in countries that are not so very hot ,here we would have problems keeping algea growth to a minimum .

It seems that some public swimming pools have been converted - as well as private ones:

http://www.naturalswimmingpools.com/index.htm

Apparently, Steele77, it should work in CY, and the cost really is ZERO ..

The system is 25 years old and is a nice eco system ,but i could not see any one in Cyprus taking this project on,the cost will not be ZERO ,take a look at the link i posted in message 3.

Set up costs are expensive which is a pity really and then you would have a 6 month wait time or maybe longer before the pool could be used unless that is you fit some kind of ultra violet system within the pump system.

Also im not to sure how long per day the pool pump needs to be run with this system ,if it is more than 8 hours per day then it is a no no for Cyprus with the rising electricity costs .

I was really hoping 1 of the Ms was bringing something very new and exciting to the forum but sadly it is an antique but very nice eco friendly system !

Hmmmmmm - I think I sense a trap being laid here!

Anyway I have a question- here in this long summer climate how long would the pool pumps need to be kept running? I woulg guess without chemicals it would need to be 24/7 for at least 5 months, so saving the climate ecologically without chemical is offset by fuel and other costs of generating the electricity.

Dear 'a Zero'

I'm surprised you might be so dismissive.

The system isn't 25 years old - can be solar powered and the running costs in chemicals are ZERO..

Naturally, this might effect your market, so I wasn't expecting an objective response from you, David ( sorry 'Amanda'....

i have not dismissed it.

i asked you a question regarding pump running times.

i asked for set up costs?

my product is only £22 my RSP

much less if you buy in quantity.

i have said above it is a beautiful system, i am not worried, you can be very very sure of that ,and david is also not worried, that again you can take to the bank.

David went to look at one of these systems, many years ago.

i think you need to do a little more research in how old this system is

it may not use chemicals so there is a saving

We use the BIOTOP™ system. Thousands of Biotop pools have been built in Europe over the last 20 years. (website)

maybe there are more than 2 BIOTOP systems ;)

Biotop is all sales talk but no technical information for evaluation.

I have a very small pond in my front garden with some goldfish in it but I was not happy with the green algae making most fish invisible unless they came to the surface to say hello to me.

Now I have the perfect solution and crystal clear water. I have an external filter and a uv light that kills algae. I have the attached small pump running 24 hours a day but its only a small pump with a consumption of electricity probably in the region of 50 watts. the uv light is probably 20-30 watts. I can live with that.

Hi Ismet

re 19

Which website are you looking at... *I* see plenty of tech info !

We have a large pond at mother's house that I have 'sort of inherited' the maintenance of and I fitted a UV filter and the water is now lovely and clear...

I guess I could paddle in it or immerse myself to my upper thighs - ( and be sucked to death by mad Koi carp or two) but I thought THIS thread was about swimming pools ?

With respect zero I did put a post on one of your threads some weeks ago requesting details of your product. I wanted to know quantities needed for treatments, frequency, costings etc which I felt ough't to be on the website.

Your response was an invitation to call you. Guys like me, suspecting a sales pitch, are deterred, much better to see it written where it can be studied and evaluated. I am not a tree hugger, I wish to see how your product compares with what I currently use and spend at present on my pool. If it is more cost effective and helps the environment that is a bonus. Why not tell us more on your website. Reluctance to furnish that info is usually an indication of an expensive product, like you don't see a price on an Armani suit on display in an upmarket department store.

All the best,

1 of the Ms

The best advise i can offer you on David's behalf is this,

2 years ago algea was around $4 a kg ,food grade algea that is that can be sold back into the food industry because of its high omega oils content ,if you can convince all the folk of the TRNC to allow you to make there pools green so you can harvest all the algea you might just have a fledgling business in the making ,but you must promise me a %age of it or let me be your TRNC AGENT and i shall give you another idea and you can see how much you can currently sell all your algea for and start to try and produce a new form of mosquito killer ,as you will need it ;)

Brian ,with respect davids prices are all over the internet .

You asked many questions regarding davids product if i recall as it was me who picked up your email and emailed you back, with a little and i mean a little research you can see on this forum all of his prices.

Also that he will maintain your pool if a 8x4 for £55 per month or if a 10x5 from £65 per month

I did give you the prices of his products, what i did say was that it would be easier to explain either face to face or in a phone call as there are several different ways of using the product to suit your pocket !

His website is purely information and not a mail order website that is why there are no prices on it .

Thank you for considering a non chlorine alternative

And a happy chlorine free swimming folks

I posted some time ago and got harangued as I questioned the efficacy of the product as it has no proven track record (ie for a decent length of time) and was only available in the TRNC. So message 33 you probably got let off lightly!

Sorry multiple mmmms, you will have to try harder if you want to convince me to use anything other then Chlorine, tried, tested proven. Yes it may have some issues but we know what they are and they are still OK for UK public pools so I will stick with that.

Type the name of the product into the search box at the top of this thread

I'm sure you shall finds lots of info ,some very useful and some not so useful ,but that is the nature of this forum !

1 of the Ms , im sorry to take the thread off topic ,i would like to get back on track with your amazing 27 year old google discovery and put it to task in the TRNC , do you think we could get a grant from the EEC or EU to fund your great idea and project ? http://www.ecofinancing.co.uk/grants-available-for-your-business-become-more-eco-friendly.html

Will they give us a grant with being in the north ? How much do you think we could get ,would it be enough to finance the making of an even bigger WOK ?

Or shall we just use it to play poker with ;)

I do not want to take any medicine that might impair my vision and make WOKS look any more bigger than they already are ;)

I believe that natural swimming pools of affordable maintenance are a figment of the imagination. The initial filling would have to start with water of quality and every top up thereafter of equal quality so where would that guaranteed source be ? The water would contaminate from the moment the surafce was exposed to the elements and even more quickly once bathing in it commenced. A sand filter would not remove nitrates sufficiently or maintain PH levels etc. Even expensive UV lights and biological filters would not cope and the initial quality water would have to be replaced as a constant flow akin to a spring continously feeding apace a lake at one end and the same outward flow at the other into a brook or stream. I think I will stick with the uncertainties and quality variations of piped/tanker supplies and utilize backwashes and rinses in tandem with Zerochlor.

Well David has just had his first customer in the office regarding this Eco Friendly pool system advertised here by 6Ms or mmmmmm.

I could not believe it when i saw this beautiful duck waddling into the office wondering if we had started making swamps yet.

We pointed it into the direction of a council estate in Gloucestershire ;)

Just had a Mr Ruddy Duck visit us at our 'chav pad' in Glos'shire.. He told us that he had visited an establishment in 'TRNC' and been offered 'advise' by a short chap who was more interested in typing responses on his computer, on some forum called Cyprus44, than dealing with genuine clients..

Mr Duck enjoyed his dip (and our hospitality) and after a short sojourn made his way to nearby Slimbridge - having placed an order - of course !

Actually, a zero,

It look like my little exercise has peeked the attention of a Biotop person who is shortly going to provide me with some counters to what was described as "someone either wilfully or just plain 'un-knowledgeable' on the subject" of the product...

I certainly learnt a lot, and think that SOME folk might be VERY interested in converting their pools to a totally chemical-free solution.

Those that think this means running expensive pumps are also in for a surprise.. I was...

Let's be clear.. this is not a solution for everyone.. the pool needs daily maintenance in the form of a 'robot' to ensure a bio-film can't build up and one doesn't have to have plants growing in the pool, or put up with green water... That is another option - with lower running costs - but not so practical for pool conversions.

We might all learn something of value...

1 of the Ms

for the 9th time what are the set up costs

We welcome the attention of Biotop and as ive said in other messages, its a good system , but not for TRNC/North cyprus ,go and try and sell it to your cronies in the south or to some of the nice council houses that are on your doorstep .

There's plenty of tree huggers and swampies around your area , you'll do alot better

lower running costs ! lower running costs than what?

If BIOTOP do not hurry up and come on the forum i shall post some of there costs myself just to shock the people of TRNC and to uncover more of your waffle and fibs/lies/spoof/goof/contradictions/dilussions ;)

above is again to 1 of the Ms

one of the Ms

David says to tell the folk from Biotop not to waste there time as the good people of the TRNC who yet again you have tried to con with your lies and spoof have all come wise to your games, just the same as the poor lady did in the south ,but the folk here have not lost any money to you yet but the lady from the south alleges you took alot of money from her, take a look in my cyp44 profile and you can see the link and read post number 4 or 5, you really did upset the poor lady by allegedly pilfering her bank account , so she alleges ;)

The costs of this 27 year old swimming pool concept is as i said yesterday the price of a 1 bedroom apartment here ;),i was right again,David learns me good ;)

Can you please tell the forum why again you tried to hoodwink the readers with a system that is such a high price you would not offer any of us set up costs after being asked many times ??

Was you hoping to do the same here as in the south to folk here ;)

Next time you want to play games please choose some one who really is not as wise or street wise as my friend,David, then you might end up looking great ,i shall carry this thread on to the end with lots more evidence of your lies and spoof that you spout because i feel people really do need to understand what a nasty rotten egg you really are.

But in saying that you have brought a nice Eco system to the attention of the people of TRNC,which me and David thank you for doing so ,even though it is a very old system but very expensive to set up just to save maybe £20 a month .

Do you have any more great ideas ? you are a book of great ideas , you are the maan ,6Ms is the maan ,Dragons den is awaiting you ;)

AND THIS WAS HIS OPENING MESSAGE ,HOW CUTE,EVERY ONE GOT REALLY EXCITED.

As so called 'sat experts' have been trolling my posts on sat tv stuff - and purport to not want the environment spoilt by large dishes - so I thought I might investigate -'greener solutions' - to avoid having to use swimming pool chemicals - AT ALL..COME LOOK AT MY SWAMP !

Now it seems ( in the UK ) it is possible to convert an existing swimming pool to be green and chemical free..DO YOU HAVE A SPARE 30K ;)

I wonder if this is the sort of thing folks would be interested in having in Cyprus?

Island girl...I have tried the zerochlor, but it is quite more costly in comparison to chlorine.Hence I have returned to chlorine.

I remember watching a program a few years back where one of thee's pools was done on a large scale in a country which was hot in the summer and had snow in the winter the country escapes me but they used it as a ice skating rink in the winter I think with a lot of research cost's could be dramatically reduced but I don't think they would be viable in cyprus.

Daveboy,

You are right .

Zerochlor is expensive and you do not know just what a cocktail of chemicals you are swimming in. Chlorine is tried and tested over many years.

We did try it and our swimsuits were turning yellow !

I would not support the idiotic person who sells it in TRNC personally,

Well Mr 6Ms,1 of the Ms,mmmmmm,MMMMMM , Your post has now had 876 views , how many orders have you taken for your new wonder-pool? or is it still at the drawing board stage?

I think you had better let the Trolls just carry on using chlorine and the ones who can afford yours or other systems and yes i mean AFFORD other systems can join you or others and those who just cannot afford to jump off the sinking ship of chlorine will have to just drown in the chlorine.

Some folk here will only drink LORD JIM, why because they get a big measure and its very very CHEAP, cheap charlies drink, myself i would only drink Bombay saffire ,thank god for choice and common sense ;) some just do not have it ;)

Anyway 1 of the Ms , would you care to tell me if not the forum how this very expensive pool system which is very good might work in TRNC , because it is 2000 PLUS x more expensive than chlorine ,so your LORD JIM audience are going to struggle ;)

David did try to explain to you how to use the product when you came in the office ,but you was one of the know it alls who did not have time to listen and said you know all about it and that your pool PH is perfect and Blaa Blaa, david asked you to take 10 mins with him to explain to you just how to use the product ,all you kept on saying was i know how to use it.

Quite an idiotic attitude if you ask me !

vincent, message 88. I agree with you...there has been previous "wonder treatments" like poolsan and others that I have tried previously. All claimed to be eco friendly and better than using chlorine. But in the end in our case chlorine has always proved more efficient and more cost effective ( and I did listen to Davids advice and used the stuff for 8 months). My pool has never looked so clear and sparkly, I ensure I test the pool on a regular basis to maintain the appropri ph balance etc. All in all this method suits us.

omaintenance or is it N "o"brain..please do not resort to your usual bullying tactics on me...

you dont know me at all!!

But I will humour you to say that I am in Lapta ...until the end of the month. I see you quote my previous threads, if you had undertaken a little more research of my previous posts you would also see that I have made it clear we havent moved yet!!

It seems you cannot help but try to "bully" anyone who dares have an opinion contrary to your own.For the record I have only stated my opinion of my personal use of zerochlor..It works but again imho it dosnt justify the price tag.Others may find it works for them...great. But do no denegrate others who do not share your undying devotion to your own product Amanda/David. If you are representative of the way your company is run by this type of constant sniping your customer base will dwindle away.

I have no agenda at all..so please dont start one.

There is no bully tactics , i am all for new greener solutions.

Message 95

you say (imho it dosnt justify the price tag)

price=8x4 pool £55 per month for maintenance

price=10x5 pool £65 per month for maintenance

cheaper than alot of chlorine contracts

compared to other products in the market place it is 3 times cheaper,so if your moaning about the price of davids product but in message 92 you said you tried the wonder product POOLSAN , well did the shop you bought poolsan from have a great big window,i mean a huge window? because here are there buy on line and world prices and look at the countries it is sold in http://www.poolsanuk.com/home.php?home=yes did you clock the prices ;) even the regen £200 for 25kg. david sells at £80 . as i said,a swimming pool is expensive to run and alot never realised ,some products are only for those who can afford them !!

look at the half litre size first, then scroll down, look at the 1 litre price. and you say my product is expensive . what comes to mind is ermmm,ah never mind ,

This thread is not about davids product

it is about the new old system 1 of the Ms,6Ms,mmmmmm,MMMMMM marky mark has posted, lets not detract from the real issue,1 of the Ms post and his new pool concept which has been around for 27 years and is a great concept,so lets keep on topic shall we.

As for Jks david may well be to busy to indulge with you,but im sure if you been suing his product you'll know where to find him to carry on your opinion.

Message 104 .Also the model T was a good product and again is very very expensive today if you can buy one but is suitable for TRNC , your concept new pool is not suited for TRNC because of costs, david is currently looking at DC pump with PV panels so pool pumps will run most of the time in daylight hours from the sun and light,he still has not got it to the price that he wants so he can offer it to the big market at an affordable price like he has with his other product and other products following soon.

resorting to insults again...I actually said that it is more expensive than chlorine, that it works, that some are happy with it...but i have found chlorine more effective and more cost effective...my opinion.

I maintain my own pool...and these are my experiences.

Have you a problem with that!!!

As you keep telling others re - read what I actually said...

my offer stands..contact me off line to discuss further...or do you just want to argue with everyone wh has a differing point of view.

"Our parent company ZEROCHLOR has an excellant reputation " - not if you keep conducting yourself in this manner...As Simbas has already stated DOES david know you are posting in this manner?

When I have met him previously he seemed a genuinel person...

Since you have joined the forum you have continually sniped at others, where do you find the time?

Arent you busy at work? Dont you like your job?

I offered to speak to either of you...although its you that has posted the constant diatribe...yet refuse to put your point of view in a reasonable manner. That tells me everything I need to know about you hiding behind your keyboard.

I have given my opinions based on my experience with no hidden agenda....!

Your scatter gun approach to anybody that has an alternative opinion, ridicules any so called experience you claim to have in working in property management particularly to customer services. You simply cannot tolerate other viewpoints without resorting to personal attacks

I wonder if David is aware of the potential harm to his company you are doing through your attitude to others.Read your own posts..it is not good reading.

Aghh..a phone call! David has rung me...what little use it was.

Not prepared to listen David..to any other opinion, cant see nothing wrong in the posts!! Unbelievable!!

David has not wasted any money on a phone call. "Amazing"

Now 1 of the Ms , can we please get some costings done on this new super ECO pool,David already has his costings, comparisons would be great if you can offer some .

Dizzy .when people lie and insinuate then you become a mirror image of that person to that person ,you should treat people as they treat you,if they treat you with contempt then return the favour ,eye for an eye and all that malarkey springs to mind ,my comments are my own personal opinion and answers to posts that are of an attacking nature,as for 0maintenance,out of this cyber-world people get treated with respect and they get what they pay for from 2 companies who offer great customer service and as companies in a difficult market place are growing day by day regardless of the cyp44 knockers and Trolls,i hope my post is understood in the context it was wrote. No need for a reply unless it is regarding 6Ms miracle

"Good customer service speaks for its self "

are you in la la land....?

if a good product speaks for itself why "bully and intimidate" others that dont share your enlightened opinion.

If you really believed in your statements...act with a bit more humility and a less confrontational approach to others.

I just scrolled down the posts not bothering to read any except the first 2-3. Is this a remake of "The Clash of the Titans", aptly named as "The clash of the Frustrated"

I have said 5 times, this thread is not about davids product ,How many times do i have to tell you, please stop harping on about other products and keep the thread on topic , http://www.naturalswimmingpools.com/index.htm

Now please try to keep on topic as i feel we are almost getting near the time for 6Ms to publish his costs for this chemical free pool.

that is why i am not talking about other products , i just want to keep the thread on topic , it is others with other agendas who keep taking off topic ,some folk do not like others wallowing in success .

Come on mmmmmm ,customers are waiting to know the costs to see if it is viable for the TRNC .

I hope so then we can be your TRNC agent as you will need some one here with not being able to live here yourself !!

Omaintenance or zerobrain whichever...

you state -

"Please do not be so aggressive in your postings ,you cannot talk to ladies in such a way" ???

I think others who read these and your previous posts will laugh their socks off at your above remark...

you have continually attacked other posters for having views different than your own ,without any justification...re read your messages, you obviously have nothing better to do than vilify and bully.

Well I'm sorry that I dont succumb to your bullying and will always have my own opinion...

Keep posting your vitriolic crap...as I said ,others will draw their own conclusions about you.

And just for the record.. you aint no lady, and certainly not any comparison to my spouse.

Keep up the good work of destroying the reputation of what appeared to be a decent business. But I suppose if you defend the indefensible behavour that you exhibit, you will reap what you sow..

You obviously have no other interests in life...

Cyprus did work for us...was a nice chapter in our lives for 6 years. but we have to go back for a while for family reasons, not that I need to explain to you...or maybe I do, a lack of family ties can do strange things to some people...they can behave in a manner similar to you, because they become bitter.

As long as we avoided self opinionated folk like you, we found very good friends for life.

Blew money...? totally irrelevant but as you asked we spent a bit and saved a lot. You can do that with half a brain you know....sorry you havent!

We'll be back next year to see if you are still posting your poison...maybe you will learn to live and let live?

Nah!!

I hope the job goes well for you...I'll continue to enjoy our retirement!

For a mainly natural, mainly safe, mainly no chemicals and absolutelty no cost to set up or maintain swimming option suitable to those in northern cyprus you could try looking here.

It works for me anyway.

If the technology for this at affordable cost and in all climates already exists why are governments spending so much public money on water sanitation plants using long established filtering and treatment methods ?

msg 158,

Because the use of chlorine is permitted, actually chlorine is a "waste product" from other production processes and therefore very very cheap.

whether the use of chlorine is "affordable" for the community (health problems) is another question.

Same applies for alternative chemical products.

Lobbiest do the rest.
