Pemos,

Think you are stuck with them, your only hope is if someone is going back to Scotland they will change them!

Not legal tender outside of Scotland although other UK banks will take them.

HSBC bank and some of the money exchanges may take them but they will give you a much lower rate than you would get for Bank of England money. It might be better to take TL out on a debit card at an ATM and take the Scottish notes back home.

I contacted the bank for you and was told that the exchange guy beside cafe britain will change them and the rate will only be a few pips lower than that of the GBP rate. Here's a web site with a good related story

Some countries do recognise our pound notes see this link

The money exchange shop on the right hand side of the high st. ( on the corner ) will change them for you, I changed some earlier this year, only about 2 Kuros difference. Heven wont even if you bank with them. If I win tonight's Euro Millions I might go in with a big sack full of £50 Scottish Notes and ask again.

The guy beside Cafe Britain will not change them. Reason: none of the banks here will take them and the only place that he can get rid of them is Bank of Cyprus and this isn't conveniently close!
