2 year old cocker spaniel imported from Uk looking for new special home. She is black with a lovely character, very loving, and is a great little guard dog as well. Before you all start her owner has returned to the Uk as she has cancer and can no longer look after her otherwise she would never be up for rehoming in a million years. Living in Karsiyaka and available to be seen. Please can someone offer her a great home. Email leavingcyprus@yahoo.com or 0533 8711186

Hang on a cotton picking minute, why couldn't this dog go back to the UK, ok the owner has cancer, sad but unless her illness prevents her from movement why couldn't she still look after the dog. I am sick of reading about dogs being left behind, disgraceful.

You really don't have a clue do you. When you have cancer and are in this position please comment otherwise shut up. This is a beloved pet and would definitely go to UK - same way as it came here - if where she is going to be living allowed dogs and she had a choice of where to live in London near the Marsden it would be going back. Your time might be better spent commenting on the puppies for sale on this site rather than someone who through no fault of their own is in dire straits.

Selling, message 5.

Very well said. I wish your friend all the very best in her treatment and I'm sure a good home will be found for the spaniel. I'm sure it will be a weight off your friend's mind, particularly as she has quite enough worry to be going on with.

Regards.

We bought our dogs back with us when we returned to the UK. However we have also had a very close friend taken from us by this dreaded desease so we know a little of what this poor lady is going through. I wish her all the best and hope she does well. Please show a bit of compasion this person needs support . I fully agree normally that if you go back to the UK you have a responsibility to take you pets back with you regardless of the cost. This is totally different circumstance. If someone could give this pet a good home it would mean a great deal to this lady and she would one thing less to worry about.

Hello David, I do not have enough posts to see your email. She is in Karsiyaka. She is very good with other dogs that she has come into contact with. Also good with cats. Up to date with vaccinations. No health problems and house trained. If you would like further info please email leavingcyprus@yahoo.com or call 0533 8711186

Messages 2,3 and 4. Notice none of you live in TRNC. In fact think you must live in another world. Do you think people `want` to leave their pets behind if they have to leave the country? Get a grip for goodness sake

we do live here and brought two dogs with us we now have 4 +cat -one cyprus pointer discarded presumably by a hunter one we have recently adopted from an ex pat who is going back to uk and a cat who I suspect was owned by an expat, so yes I think I do know what I am talking about. There are loads of unwanted, abandoned dogs here and Im sorry but I stick to saying if at all possible people should take their animals home they are their responsiblity I would move heaven and hell to take all of ours back

Msg5, 'You really don't have a clue do you'

Actually yes I bloody well do have a clue, my hubby has cancer so I will bloody well comment, did this woman leave her money, contents and passport behind, would she have left her child behind, NO, but he it is ok to leave a beautiful dog behind.

Why take the dog over there is you are just going to abandon it. 'A beloved pet' my ass, she should have taken it home or made arrangements to get it back, even if she then had to rehome it in the UK, I cannot think of a worse place to leave a 'beloved pet'.

Does she not have family in the UK that could have taken this 'beloved pet' in, you lot are the heartless fcukers that treat animals this way, keep while convenient then cast it aside like an old sock.

I cannot believe some of your comments. I don't need to explain all our circumstances to anyone - all I will say is that this dog has not been abandoned nor will it be. We are just trying to find a good home for her here. If this fails then we will have to think again and we have already thought of shipping her to Battersea Dogs home but right now whilst we have time left in Cyprus we want to try and rehome on my mother's behalf. We would love to have this dog but live in a second floor flat and work incredibly long hours - that really would be unfair on her.

Thank you to the members who saw this post for what it was and understood the circumstances.

I am sorry for your mothers plight but you should ship the dog back home, she is a member of your family, I stand by my comments.

Spaniels are such super happy little dogs....sometimes a little difficult and can be quite hyper active....but so incredibly loving.....whoever takes this dog on will not regret it...if only i had more space....... :(

For goodness sake lets have a bit of compassion for human beings. I can think of nothing worse than having a disease like this and the additional distress of what will happen to a beloved dog. And it is a nightmare getting a dog back to the UK, as posts here testify.

I would take the dog, but I recently adopted a puppy in similar circumstances and with two other (adopted stray) dogs I couldnt give a young active dog enough excercise, being lame myself, and a fourth set of Vets bills would be too much.

If people are constantly worrying about what will happen to their animal if they become ill themselves they wont dare to adopt more. It is time we worked together to help in these circumstances instead sending messages which can only cause more distress.

I hope the dog finds a good home and the lady finds good care for hereself and makes a full recovery.

Cocker spaniels are THE most marvellous dogs. We had two, but unfortunately had to have one put to sleep some months ago. We have one left, but I do not think she would accept another dog now, else I'd take her in a minute. David I hope you get her, having had one already, you know what marvellous little dogs these are. I wish you all the luck re-homing her.

And there but for the grace of God go I springs to mind and some of you posters should remember that, no-one knows of circumstances.

I absolutely totally agree flutterby...Spaniels are fantastic dogs, a little hard work, due to their never ending energy, but so worth it!!
