I thought I knew something about Rugby, so I predicted the experience of Ireland to outdo the Welsh youth, England to completely dominate an indifferent France, The Springboks to easily contain the Wallabies! All totally wrong, so on this history I now predict an outstanding win for the Argies who will go on to beat France in the final. I can't be any more wrong than I have been so far!

Simhar,

I too are a rubbish Rugby Pundit. I agree with your predictions and are so far wrong. I predict the biggest winning margin of the Quarter Finals to be for All Blacks though!

Semis - Wales to beat France and All Blacks to narrowly beat Australia.

Final All Blacks to win, sorry Wales , would love to see you win but cannot see it happeniong though.

AB beat Argentina in a scrappy game, unlike the previous 3 games in the 1/4's with the scoreline not reflecting how good the Argies played.

Anyone watching the superb RL Grand Final last night will now presumably turn their back forever on the insipid 15-man code.

Riddles. As a Saints supporter watched the game even though we lost enjoyed every minute of the nail biting encounter, the game of Rugby League does not get enough media coverage because it is seen as just a Northern sport and will take a lot to get people converted from the onion game.

'Onion' is correct, Woodspeckie, in that it brings tears to your eyes ...but an onion has lots of layers so it can't describe RU really!

Defination of Rugby Union -Where RL players go when they've lost that vital yard of pace!

I have had the pleasure of playing and watching both codes of rugby for longer than I want to admit. When I finished playing rugby union at a high satndard I started watcing rugby league. I still believed I could play union at any level. I knew I could not play professional rugby league anymore. My dad also played both codes...at a time when bans were the norm for people caught doing so. We both made money from games we loved. However, as a fervent follower of rugby league I cannot agree that Union is "inspid". I would sooner watch Leeds Rhinos than Rotherham Earth Titans. But at International level rugby union is far superior...it is a thinking mans game. The game flys past.Rugby League at club level can be great, it can also be sterile with sides cancelling each other out from the off.

Both codes have a lot to offer, both are better entertainment than football....but just as we will never convince footballers we will never convince the code enemies. Lets just watch and play rugby.

Don't worry Simon,

My punditry outdoes even yours in just how wrong one can be - though not about England's lack-lustre performance thankfully!

So now I revert to what the experts say. Here's the Telegraph today:
