Is it just me or does everybody loose their Sky signal around 8pm every evening using a 1.8m dish? In addition every now & then I lose all the channels except ITV+1 with a message displayed on the screen saying I need to upgrade. Does anyone else have this problem.

I am getting very poor signals now, 9.20, BBC1, 2, ITV and channel 4, including the HD channels. I have a 4.2 metre dish. Today is the first time I have experienced this in months so could be the weather?

I get the same problem normally around 7.00pm (1.8 dish) - loss of signal, no EPG, and unable to access the planner menu to view recorded stuff.

Tried swithching off & resetting the box, but it takes about 20 mins to come back.

Can Any of the experts on the board suggest a reason/remedy.

Might be a good idea to contact your installer to come round & check what's wrong.

I had Mustafa come and sort mine (1.8m offset), if you are currently using a single LNB a twin LNB will restore your EPG instantly. Mustafa also fitted the latest and best LNB for fringe viewing. He's the man to sort the problem, although it depends on how busy he is as to when he can get to you.

Those with 4.2m dishes and who normally receive BBC etc channels from the 2D satellite will have problems following the BBC's changes to the transponders they rent from Astra, in particular they have changed the polarity from Horiz to Vert, making reception useless here.

On smaller dishes (e.g. 1.8m) forget it!

I have now changed from SKY to on-line TV from the UK using a VPN.

My SKY dish is 2.4m, still gets some free channels such as SKY News.

Reception on the 4.2m, which is normally good, has over the past couple of days been a bit dodgy. But has returned to normal this morning.

After the the satellite changes I still get on freesat

BBC1 plus regional varations

BBC2

ITV 1 plus regional varations

Channel 4

Channel 5

BBC 3 & 4

ITV 2 + 1

ITV 4 + 1

ITV 1 HD

More 4 +1

Al Jazeera(Eng)

CNN

Film 4

Film 4+1

plus some god and shopping channels

The only channel of note I have lost since the change is BBC News 24 and whilst the red button still works I have lost the sports multiscreen option which is a shame but as all the above are free should not complain to much!

Have never subscribed to sky as I blame then for the demise of football and the scam that is the premier league but thats another story!!

Somehow everyone has turned into a satellite TV expert these days!!

Geoff

BBC 1/2 has NOT changed polarity...they are still using Horizontal & providing you have a well installed/maintained 4.2m you shouldn't have problems...

On 1.8m dish BBC 1/2 was not available anyway...they only changed transponder for BBC News channel (503) to Astra 2D making it unavailable for 1.8m.

BBC News was the interface channel for BBC streams through red button.

BBC streams are still available for 4.2m dish through BBC1 red button.

1.8m size dish can also receive 5 stream channels but since there is no interface channel, they are not available for SKY boxes on 1.8m ..any other FTA box can receive them with a 1.8m dish!!

For Iceman and others: you won't get much on a 1.8m dish -the size that the thread's originator was enquiring about.

BBC Parliament has also gone, due to change to the 2D satellite and change of polarisation.

As for the rest, I don't claim to be an expert, I was just reporting my experiences with a 2.4m dish.
