The Cyprus talks enter a new phase with the give-and-take. President Derviş Eroğlu and the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias came together at the official residence of the UN Special Representative to Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim in the UN buffer zone today.



The two leaders were scheduled to launch the give-and-take process.



President Derviş Eroğlu and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration Dimitris Christofias held their last meeting on Tuesday during which they discussed the method and procedure of the give-and-take process.

Today, the leaders were expected to launch the give-and-take process, since they had covered all of the negotiation chapters during 14 meetings held within the framework of the intensified period.



Eroğlu and Christofias had gone through all of the chapters in relation to the core issues and the give-and-take now awaits the two sides ahead of the tripartite meeting to be held with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the end of this month.



The tripartite summit will take place on the 30th and 31st of October in New York.
