If anyone is interested, the Coptic Winds chart here is pretty interesting - and generally close!

I wish I could agree but generally we just see huge winds :-(

Incredibly exhilarating but very non-productive!

BTW, for any of you not here, its absolutely gorgeous - clear, crisp but not cold, as blue as blue can be!

Sorry, had to rub that in and make you envious!

Have a wonderful day everybody!

I think we'll pass on the white stuff! Thanks anyway.....

Happy to report we've had rain at Karsiyaka!

Of course, the electricity was unable to cope with this phenomenon and has subsequently been out until just a little while ago! Ah well, you can't have it all, can you!

Quite spectacular lightning show over Turkey for the last couple of hours too.....

Nothing of note around Karsiyaka/Lapta although we did have an enormous dust storm just before midday Sunday!

Its currently clear and blue, a bit windy and around 18ºc

Happy Monday everyone!

Hi Turbo,

No, haven't seen the mountains yet - too much cloud over there! Probably dumping masses of snow.

Yes on a clear day it is a totally beautiful sight.

It was so clear here last night/early this morning, I could see the lights on the coast ...under a carpet of stars!

BTW Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Krin52, thank you, got more turkey than we can handle right now, most markets are offering buy one get one free 20-25lb+ 99cnts a lb.no room left in the freezer,,

if it wasn't for the day after leftovers (which is my favorite) more turkeys than you can handle.

Approx. 55 million will be cooked on Thursday.

Who else likes turkey the next day, a nice sandwich with stuffing?

Whats the law on taking a frozen one to UK?

Me! Me! I only cook the wretched bird for the leftovers! Mmmmm, mmmmmm....

All the great sides are my favourite! Next week, we diet! Every year, its the same, better than Christmas

It was our turn last night and so far today, rain heavy heavy rain almost monsoon type rain, the result will probably be flash floods and mudslides , thats what happens when half the mountain areas had fires this summer, almost afraid to turn on the news,,

Well needed rain, first of this winter.

Oh, sorry to hear that, hope everyone is okay. It never rains but it pours - probably not real appropriate right now! We could still do with some of that rain here.......

All the best.....

Hi Turbo and Krin

Happy Thanksgiving to you both. Please can you tell me what a traditional Thanksgiving meal consists of. My only reference is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (I know it's not technically the same).

Best wishes.

Jo

Jo, basic menu:

Turkey

Yams/ sweet potatoes (with brown sugar and melted marshmallow)

Stuffing (some prefer it with oysters)

Cranberry sauce/jelly

brussel sprouts (or veg of choice)

Mashed potato

lashings of thick gravy

followed by pumpkin pie (or pecan pie) with whipped cream

tomorrow, you can actually smell the roasting turkey in the air.

At Christmas most usually cook a ham or a Prime rib, not turkey.

I have the most delicious recipe for sweet potatoes, mashed, in orange skins baked in the oven! So easy with everything else going on... My kids request it every year!

Carrots, with a pinch of cinnamon and a splash of maple syrup...

Green bean - casserole or just with fried onion on top.....

And we stir fry our brussel sprouts with garlic and soy sauce, can't stand soggy sprouts! Ditto the kids' request for that one!

Whoever heard of kids asking for brussel sprouts????

Our crossed heritage now has us having a large pork roast WITH crackling for Christmas ... and lashings of apple sauce! When we were still living in Oz, it was platters of prawns, oysters, crab and chicken wings ... at the beach!
