Thinking of having a solar blanket for our pool, is there anyone out there who has one, if so do they keep the pool at a reasonable temperature so that we can use our pool in the winter ? Also details of anyone selling/providing the covers here in the TRNC ?

We have one on our pool. Water temp is 5 degrees higher than our next door neighbour's pool. We expect that we will use the pool till the begining of next month then it will be too cold. We will start using the pool again sometime in April

One of the best aspects of the solar pool cover is that they reduce water evaporation dramatically. They also reduce the amount of insect life that drowns in your pool - the insects land and take-off again. Thus reducing water contamination by bugs.

They do extend the swimming window but Dec/Jan the sea would still be warmer than your pool. It depends on how stoic you are I guess....

I brought one over from the Uk it weighed 17kg and although I had a few funny looks it went through the airport OK. I bought the new micron cover as they hold more heat in and are lighter. It cost £180 from eBay. It made 8 degrees difference . The roller is the problem, they are so expensive in Cyprus, I was lucky enough to get a second hand one, but bring one over from UK it will save a lot of money and they will fold down small enough.
