Well done to the Rep of Ire on qualifying to go to the finals, along with England

Scotland, Wales and N.I won't be there but the Germans will having won ALL their games

NL lost - only time - to Sweden - so Hans can't boast of a 100% record..

Turkey will be their and maybe they will face a resurgent Greece...

Bosnia-Hercegovina qualified along with Montenegro.... no Serbia(!)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8943195.stm

Surely, it will be between Germany, Spain and NL .... ?

Sorry Mark,

I do not like to contradict but....

Rep of Ireland have only qualified for the playoffs. As have Turkey, Estonia, Bosnia, Sweden, Croatia, Montenegro, Portugal, and The Czech Republic.

The draw for the ties will take place on Thursday. I may have one of these wrong as nine countries does not seem correct.

Let's see if EUFA adopt the seeding that they used for the last World Cup play off teams!!!

Who will take bets that Portugal and Turkey will be #1 seeds!!!

EUFA certainly got the results they wanted the last time they manipulated the 'draw' for places.

Hi DD

I awoke early and saw the BBC sports site - realising that I'd been a TOTAL prat - but it was too late - my HOWLER had been spotted !!

Hopefully, IRL will beat all-comers and save my bacon ;)

re:msg 3

unlike Turkey, who was the worst 2nd placed team to (just about) qualify for the play-offs

Greece qualified to go DIRECTLY...so they obviously wont be playing eachother (at least at play-offs) ;)

Come on, it's not that difficult.

9 winners of the groups

Best runner-up (Sweden)

4 winners from two legged drawn play off matches (drawn as in balls out of the hat, not 0-0,1-1 etc. - although expect Platini to throw in some weighted balls!)

2 hosts (Ukraine and Poland)

= 16 teams for the finals.

2 hosts = 2 byes to the finals, maybe there can be a future for the skirt wearers !!

Hey, hey! Internet connection, coupled with user error means I get to send message no. ''19'', if I'm quick enough! Thanks for giving me the chance. I'm not going to tell you who I went through to get my internet connection, but it is normally very good. Weathers good here!!

Ireland have been seeded and could go up against Turkey, Montenegro , Bosnia-Herzegovina or Estonia.

Draw will take place on Thursday.

I see a lot of people make the mistake of spelling the words "their" and "there" wrongly.

But you claiming to be an intellect on matters, were the last person I would expect to make this mistake.

IRL have drawn Estonia, who only beat N.Ireland with the 'help' of a blind ref..

"The other play-offs see Turkey up against Croatia, the Czech Republic take on Montenegro and Portugal face Bosnia-Hercegovina."

Biker, re msg 22

Sorry to disappoint - I sometimes TALK at the computer - rather than typing- and failed to check it's 'interpretation'..Mea culpa .. [ emoticon for embarrassed ]

I will 'forgive' the omission of a comma between "But you" and "claiming", in your 'rebuke' ;)

Good draw for the Irish.

Lets hope that they now get a good result.

PS Do not point any gramatical errors or spelling mistakes as I do not care.

Did you get my last post? - I tried talking at my computer - and.........nothing! Just as well I suppose. A bit like asking my wife if she's goin' to get the tea on! Anyway, I sort of remember some mix up between Sansom and Shilton, resulting in Houghton scoring. Give me Estonia any day.

It looks like the 'skirties' are after a friendly against us. They'd be better off arranging a match against Carlisle.

Thank you DD for clearing up that major Fopar from 6m. I thought I must have taken something illegal and quite powerful that knocked me out for a week or so, and I missed the 'Play Offs' !!! I nearly had to change my name to Rumplestilskin or Sleeping Beauty, bit in between the two. Gosh 6m can command speak to his computer maybe it's time I had a look around for a New Model The Amstrad zx100 is beginning to creak and splutter a bit...
