Please read this thread and see if there is anything you can do to help, whether it be offering some advice, ( I have no expertise in the care of wild or domestic birds) or providing us with further information on the owner, or hopefully some practical help ie your attendance on Sunday at 12.30pm or even contribution towards a vet bill for flea treatment and examination of the 2 dogs, there is also a sick rabbit and family of ducks that look rather poorly. I will bring new water bowls and some water in containers to fill them with, dry dog food, plus some vegetables for the rabbits as they are being fed bird seed. If anyone has any spare large strong open plastic containers that they could bring with them that would be helpful. All this is vital if we are going to succeed in turning around the situation there. My contact details again are tel no 0533 8674699 or email jackywilson@hotmail.com

Is it possible to take pictures of how these animals /birds are being kept ?

It would help to make a judgement and how to go about getting the owners to be more responsible . I am not doubting your words, but it always helps to have pictures to focus the mind...

Thank you for that suggestion, yes I will take my camera with me on Sunday and do my best although I am no David Bailey, lol!, however, I am not sure if the pictures will sufficiently show the very dirty water or lack of it and how small or cramped some of the cages are for the size of the birds etc.

I think it is a case of trial and error with regards to approach as at the moment I have no idea how they will react and if we get it wrong we could be seen as trespassers and forced to leave the premises. If we arrive with gifts and good intentions maybe not. All I know is I just can't sit at home and do nothing, I have had sleepless nights ever since my visit on Tuesday. At least we can try to make a difference whether we actually succeed in the long term is another matter.

Are you able to join us on Sunday dizzycows?

No sorry Hideaway, we are still in GB until next month, but I am still interested in the conditions of how animals are kept... I dont take to kindly to any one that abuses animals or people ...

There is a recent write up on trip adviser (only 1 comment, but only 1 star), might be worth someone printing this out as trip adviser is very influential. Wish I could be there with you on Sunday, look forward to reading your feedback.

Hideaway - I support your campaign - however I would like you to consider a couple of things.

Cypriots don't take too kindly to being told what to do - SO this really has to be handled with kid gloves.

Do any of you speak Turkish if not you might consider finding a Turkish speaker to go with you - in that way your kindly gestures can be put across in the right way - diplomacy really is a key issue here if you are going to make any progress. I wish you well

LATEST UPDATE ON THIS THREAD. Green Heights visited this morning. There are CCTV cameras, with a monitor in the cafe/bar (probably under the bar counter). Circumstances have changed somewhat up there. Ring me 0533 8400380. Please identify with 44 name.
