Mike,

My father was born in Llangollen, he got married in Chirk to a local girl and they lived for many years in Cefn Mawr, does that make me welsh enough.

I think my Great Great Uncle Cornelius gave a Welshman a ha'penny for a cup of tea once.

Anyone got any closer relations/connections?

I still have relatives there Mike, you may know them, Jim Jones, Ned Jones, Griffith Jones, and so on and so on. I spent many happy childhood holidays over there in Gods own country.

By supporting Wales you mean the way the Taffs Jocks and Paddies all support England!

"many 44 got Welsh ties ?"

I've got a French cravat....

My Grandma (Kathleen Shelton-Jones) was Welsh.

It's a funny thing this home nations rivalry, How many Brits hope Wales get a doing?

Not me, I will be cheering them on and booing the Frenchies like a good-un.

No sour grapes, England by performance did not to deserve to progress in the RWC simple as that!

What a choice for an Englishman, cheer for the French or the Welsh?

May the best team win and go through to the final against..... Australia?

MikeLapta,

I was based at Hereford and we used to go to Builth Wellson a weekend and have great timres there. There was a group of girls from Newcastle Emlyn so as rest say is history haha!!

Hope the French do turn up like last week and that Wales defeat them and gain in confidence for the final as I still cannot see them beating either ABs or Aussies in final though- just think they do not have that self belief, butr good win against good French side could do wonders to confidence!!

how convenient that you all choose to ignore my last post (11 )

Gary, you know it's not aimed at you.

Perhaps the johnny come lately, comedy genius, mike lapta would like to respond.

I as a true Englishman love being hated by the celts, by the grace of God i was born English, and will never support another national team out of jealousy or envy, England were not good enough to progress, there will be another chance for us to show how good we can be.

I was in a bar last Saturday for both games, Applauded and appreciated the Wales performance sitting behind a group of welsh fans. They had a great time. They then seemed to have an even better time cheering on the French and jeering nearly every time an Englishmen touched the ball (not often I grant you). No, although I can't bring myself to cheer on the French, I also can't cheer on a team whose supporters act in such a churlish way when another "home nation" is suffering. So I am a neutral for the rest of the tournament and will just hope for some decent rugby to watch.

well I've got to say that Wales were by far the best team. With a man down so early on they should have been over run, but the reverse happened and with a bit of luck and better kicking they would have been in the FINAL. As an Englishman I have to say that today Wales were magnificent and sadly just missed out!!

Just returned from watching the game at the Paradise. Cheered for the Taffs every step of the way and was sorry to see them lose (even as an Englishman). Was there last week when England lost to France and the Wales fans who were there with me were cheering on the French.....what's that all about ???

Oh well, the Webb Ellis Cup will be going to the Southern hemisphere (again) :-(
