Strange pop up box on Digiturk programmes?

Whilst watching Digiturk this evening a white box with red letters on it kept appearing in different positions on the screen, always the same letters and on all channels - anyone else experiencing this/know what it means?

We experienced this as well and when we switched the television off it kept coming back on after 5 mins!

We had it for a short period a while back... it went away. You could ask at their office. If you do find out please let us know... it's bound to happen again. :(

it started doing it on mine too. I had the letters, and whilst it was showing i couldnt change the channel or the volume.

Msg. 6 Sometimes the Zapper can be at fault. On Tuesday my TV froze on National Geo Wild. Couldn't change volume, programme, NOTHING. Did the usual by switching off at the wall, switched on again, computer reset itself, NOTHING, just National Geo. Wild. Then I had a brainwave perhaps the batteries in the zapper were dead. Put in two new Duracell batteries, NOTHING.



Next day down to the Didgiturk office, they agreed the zapper was faulty (we've had it 7 weeks). Gave me a new one (plus my batteries back and another two batteries). All OK until LAST NIGHT, as above, a collection of 9 or 10 (letters in my case) I thought it might be the code on my card, but as others are getting it then obviously I'm wrong. I wonder if Didgi were reconfigerating their own system?

could be somehting to do with cardsharing.

some broadcasters (sky italia, and sky Uk) display a series of numbers on the screen. these number relate to a viewing card number (it may not be the card number, but an algorythm will produce number / letters based on the viewing card number). It allows broadcasters to see who is using cards on cardsharing networks, or even a private card in a commercial premesis, so they can take action against that card owner.

Mine was on a red background. My letters started CCD.................. I had to press my nose against the screen to see them! I really think I might need glasses soon.

This is probably an extreme measure taken to identify each individual account.



As so many 'home' boxes are being used in public places and people re-broadcasting digiturk content on the internet, this kind of identification will allow digiturk to shut down accounts feeding this 'illegal' broadcasting systems.

It's driving me potty tonight. Twice now I've wanted to change to another programme but it wouldn't let me. By the time the letters went off the screen and I could alter the programme numbers, the programmes had started. Down to DT on Monday, surely we're not going to have to put up with this continually are we?

spot on James...displayed numbers appear only when the card is being used in an original Digiturk box.

cardsharing systems do not use original boxes so these numbers do not apper on the screen when card is being shared.

Providers use this system to identify legit cards used in public places when they are contraced for home use..

We had the same problem and I gave Digiturk a call today and was told that they are doing maintenance and it will stop after today... (fingers crossed )

I also spoke to them this morning, it is to do with the new system installation (apparently different areas are receiving different codes) and as Micho says they have assured me that by this evening it should be gone and not happen again - Insha'allah..

It is to do with the spyware that has been installed. Now, everything you say can be heard and recorded by the security services in TRNC.

Yes my husband thought it was big brother watching us - bb must have a low boredom threshold if it was! We had the box again last night different letters to those mentioned above but always the same ones. Will have to see if it happens again tonight.

It was on quite frequently last night on different channels but it does not intefere with changing prorgrammes, volume etc. It pops up in different places on the screen.
