I thought this EU clubby type thing was created to stop any conflicts and wars so why do they need 400 tanks ?

"latest technology" should be taken with a pinch of salt:

f16 fighters were sold around the world with varyingly-

derated software and systems



then again it could be an offset project, where greece

gets a manufacturing contract as part of the deal

They need them to control their own citizens who are prone to a bit of rioting on the streets of Athens every time their own government informs them it's time to pay their taxes.....

Well they deny they will default on their international debt but if they don't there will be civil war. so they are probably hedging their bets...

Unless they plan to attack a fellow NATO nation it can only be in preparation for a military coup.Probably backed by the CIA. Once Greece goes down that route Spain and Portugal will follow. People have short,selective memories.
