One of the specialties of Northern Cyprus (for me) are the small, sweet bananas. I've never grown such a banana plant, because I was told on time how much water they need... But other people don't seem to have a water shortage and that's possibly why I saw this fine banana plant in the Hillside Restaurant in Alsancak...

I had my first banana today from the first of our four bunches to ripen. The first bunch has been ripening for a few months now but the other three only appeared recently. We have had bananas for the last 3 years, increasing in size year on year. We don't water them that often. Looking forward to having frozen banana in my Winter porrage

we.ve had loads of bananas this year in our garden, thankfully we dont have a water issue and hubby waters them every 2 days.they are small and sweet, they are still green when we pick them but leaving them in the house for a few days they turn more yellow,i think the best thing to do is put them in a dark box for a few days ;)

They definitely don't need to be watered every day. Ours are lucky if they get watered once a week.

@ joandjelly: How do you start to grow such a plant? Buy a young plant? Seeds? Or?
