I know it's only October, but i am soooo looking forward to firing up my log fire and the turkish oven.....in fact, i am so cold tonight, i seriously wish i had some wood!! I know that closing the doors and windows and even putting on a jersey would help...but i can't quite admit that summer is over yet....i am even contemplating throwing some charcoal on the fire instead of putting more clothes on....

Is anyone else feeling it too...?

Absolutely agree. My feet are frozen, but refuse to put socks on, it's too early for winter.

You should buy wood 1 year before you want to burn it - fresh wood is no good. So if you haven't got any now then you will struggle this winter.

My house is at at least a 100 years old....stays wonderfully cool in summer, but in winter just as cool....no strike that... boody effing freezing!! Hence why i have an enormous open fireplace in the bedroom and a turkish oven in the main house...both of which heats up my home wonderfully...however, as i said in my first message, i loathe to light either as it would be admitting summer is over.....

BTW, i am not a moaner of any sorts, so please take your excuse to pick on someone, somewhere else....this was meant as light hearted banter concerning the oncoming winter....although i do offer my sympathies to you if you having trouble keeping your inexpensive, cheaply built villa warm during the (thankfully) few winter months!!

My feet are a little cold tonight though I'm not feeling too bad now that I've put on a woolly t-shirt!

Was shivering in bed a couple of nights ago so put the 4.5 tog summer quilt back on the bed - was too bloody hot last night!!!

I've had a quilt on for the last month or more...it's all cuddly and soft...might actually start firing up the hot water bottle to warm my toes....

I can't believe this.

We were over there 2 weeks ago and we had the a/c on at night and one day it registered 36 deg on the thermometer

The temp can't drop that quick and to a degree where you need a fire on ?

One of the things I have never really got used to in Cyprus is how fast the seasons change. One minute I am complaining about the heat, the next wondering where I put the duvet and thick sweaters. But surely winter has come early this year usually I swim until the end of October, but I have given up now.

Daisy I am surprised at you! Surely you know the best way to keep your toes warm is a friendly dog on your feet

We'll be over in Alsancak in 2 weeks, can't wait to get to some cooler weather after summer in the Emirates. The weather in the TRNC now should be like the UK was in August!

At least playing a round of golf will be more pleasant.
