A couple of weeks ago there was a thread on how to get rid of unwanted programmes from your computer that are causing problems. I thought I`d put it in favourites but cannot find it. ie. I installed PC Cleaners which was supposed to be free.Silly thing to do I know. Then found out I had to pay for it and it was causing my computer to lock up. I uninstalled it and it disappeared. However, the next day after booting up it appeared on my screen again and I cannot get rid of it. There`s no uninstall. I am having major problems with computer, slowing down amongst other things. How do I get rid of it. I have Windows XP. Any advice appreciated.

On windows the way to remove installed programs is from start - control panel - programs and features

from here you should see a list of all currently installed programms and have the option to uninstall them.

System restore is the best way to go but I understand that the one you used was too old.

The lesson is to ALWAYS take a system back-up BEFORE you install new software or make any significant changes to your PC. That way you can confidently restore to imediately before the problem.

I know I'm not being helpful in your present situation buy hopefully others will read and learn. I suspect many do not even know that you can do this.

System restore wont work with malware what you need to do is download a program called malwarebytes its free version is sufficient and run this it will clean up any malware you have on your pc
