Hi,we will be moving to the TRNC sometime around mid to end January. We have decided not to buy but to long term rent. There are going to be a few questions over the next few weeks but are there many people out there renting long term and do they have any advice for getting it right?

Also are there any members with a villa available for long term renting either around west Kyrenia or in any of the villages close by.We dont drive so need a good bus route.

Thanks in advance

Hi menace welcome to the forum. I have a friend who has a 3 bedroomed villa for rent in the Lapta area, good size with pool if you are interested. Let me know and I will give you her details.

Hello Menace,

I think you are very wise to rent first off. At least you will be able to judge for yourself which area you would prefer to settle in.

We are very lucky, we bought straight way, and are very happy with our choice.

After you have lived here for a while, you will get to know who the good builders are and the advantages and disadvantages of living in certain areas.Hope this helps, and good luck. .

Dennis,

A very wise move... there are loads of villas for rent.. so be picky and get what you really want. Don't settle on the first one that appeals continue looking about. Look for convenience and, depending on your preference, for quiet or noisy as both are in abundance... ease of access to the things you want to partake of... or more importantly not....

Nothing worse than not getting a good night's sleep day after day because a noisy bar or disco is thumping away or the nearby road is very busy with young lads strip-racing their over powered motors 'til all hours....

Hi Menace,

When renting long term, the most important thing is to have a rental agreement and have it written in, who pays for what. Does the rent you pay cover the council and property tax or do YOU have to pay it? If renting on a complex, who pays the service charges? Also make certain that you agree on who is going to pay the rental tax . I think this is more important than whether you live on the west or east side of Kyrenia. I have long term renters in my property and all these things were sorted out before they moved in.

And while you're checking for noisy discos and street racers, make very sure your neighbours don't have a dog/dogs that they let bark all day and night, and roam at will...........

Hi Menace, I am so sorry to you as you don't know what's been happening here lately, and a lot of us are a bit suspicious.

We had a realy nasty person on for a couple of day's vile in fact, he targeted certain members, and swore, and made sick jokes, it took days to get rid of him, so when you came on as "menace" even though I checked your profile, well, hope you can understand.

Hope this answers your questions

I am very sorry to you, and hope we can be friends.

Vicki

Hi,thanks everybody for help.Wish2rent looks really helpfull.Really looking for villa without pool or apartment with shared pool.Best areas would be west of Kyrenia but still close enough get get in and out easily, best if within walking distance as us people who dont drive tend to like walking,2 beds would be the ideal.

If anyone out there knows of anything that fits then please leave message.

Sorry name seems to have caused consternation, dont know what to say.

John

Suggest you visit the areas at night as well as during the day as they can be very different dynamics...

This time of year will be quieter too... in mid-summer the coast road is busy and noisy.. with many bars and discos playing thumping load music 'til all hours.
