I agree, just consider Iraq, although its somewhat quieter now, there are still bombings, shootings, etc etc going on,I just pray that Libya has a better "handle" on things, the TNC appear to have the peoples confidence, they have stated they will hand over to a new Libyan Government with 1 month....hesitantly,time will tell.

If he is dead, or alive and captured, they need to show the body on TV, or no one will believe it.

think that thats the best result for NTC as a show trial would do them no favours - remember Saddams trial it was a joke and even his execution from an underground carpark was a shambles. So theres the other 2 big fishes to go Saif and Motassim and would love to see that smirk wiped of the face of their Press/Media guy!!

He was not as good as 'Comical Ali' of Iraqs media!!

dizzycows,

Me feel small? Get a grip, woman.

Let me ask you a simple question. Given matters of late, who would you trust Ghaddafi or Rupert Murdoch.

Correct....you would not trust either!

Now how about Jim Squires. There is a man whose daughter (had she lived) would have been proud of

her father. These are the people that matter.

The death of anyone makes this world a poorer place, in my humble opinion.

Wyn,

As I recognise and respect your views, what about what he has done and idi to his own people because they disagreed with him, he had them gassed, what about the mass graves from this war, do you think he did not know about them or order the genocide of tribes that he thought were lower than his own cast????, the world is a better place without him and his sons who ordered the killing of thousands of his own people, not to mention those that "just" vanished never to be seen again.

Got a grip now Wyn, ... couldn't quite understand how you worded it ...

Yes all deaths are horrible, but think this man was evil,...

He killed so many ruthlessly, young and old alike, I feel no sadness for this man...

Lets hope the world may become a little safer, but who knows ..... not I ....

Rogerdoger.

I am afraid that I belong to the school "judge not, lest we be judged". You get what you deserve!

I suspect a greater authority than mine, will have the last say on Mr Ghaddifi.

Now Mr Jim Squires. There is a man that is worth listening to. There are values worthy of consideration.

dizzycows,

When I was about 14 I was told that the first victim of war was truth.

That single statement made me think twice before I formed opinions., and I had no oil!

Tony Blair did not waste any time sucking up to Ghadaffi for his shares of petro dollars.

I do not feel that "THE WEST' can hold their heads high, in this affair.

Just my humble view, thats all.

I really can't beleive what I'm reading here oil / lire cost, better the devil , sympathy for a mass killer, Lockerbie, a British Police officer in broad daylight and then stick two fingers up to the British people, Government. Supply killing equipment to the IRA so they could kill innocent people, hundred of thousands of his own people tortured killed !!!! As much as I don't like Murdoch and let's face it he is a slime ball, I think Wyn maybe you have been partaking a little too much of that stuff that you are holding aloft to consider exactly what you have written ? Perhaps not, but Did Gadaffi turn up at a Government select panel to answer Q's on his behavior or what was done under his orders ? We were all sickened by hacking a dead girl's phone but get priorities right. Kill one young WPC on our streets or get some slimy weasel to listen in to messages on a dead girls phone I know which one of these crimes I would consider the more serious in the eyes of the law and humanity ??

It's a pity that Ghadaffi didn't but a western newspaper group. That way he could have got his side of the argument across. He was a Libyan, he did what he thought was best for Libya. All we know, or are led to believe that we know, is what we read. Clearly, he had plenty of support from his own people. Would his rule have survived without the intervention of non-Libyans?. Would any of todays rulers survive a civil war if the rebels were supported by outsiders?.

Only time will tell if Ghadaffi was a better bet than what came after.

Does anyone think that the West is a safer place now that Saddam has gone?

Ghadaffi was a despot. His demise, I hope, will go some way to make others (Mugabe et al) realise that their time for such rule is growing ever shorter. Who would have thought less than ayear ago that this would happen...Strange Days indeed.
