Well, our house was built with phone sockets in every room. 7 years ago we made enquiries and were laughed at. To the best of my knowledge the nearest phone is 1Km away from our house i.e. on the main Lapta - Girne road. You maybe be luckier than most.

Try and get a Cypriot to go with you to the telephone exchange, I got mine in 2 weeks, 4 years ago.

Nobody can advise you on this one except for the telephone company. Go to the phone office in Girne - almost opposite the post office, go round to the side entrance and ask at the enquiries office on the ground floor. Take your land plan/kocan or whatever with you so that they can identify accurately where your property is. If there are phones near you in Lapta, it will not be difficult to get a line but, if you are some distance from the nearest existing phone it will be a different story!

We ( 10 houses) were told that to get parcellised, we had to have a fibre optic phone line fitted. A new law apparently. We all paid £650 each, for the provision of this cable 2 years ago.

We are still waiting.

Impossible where i live although all cables and house sockets are in place. Telecoms say we are to far from the nearest connection point and they dont have any spare numbers.

Msg1 The Phone socket on the Wall is simply a Phone socket on the wall.Similar to the "Street Light Cables" sticking out of the pavement.or the TV Ariel sockets .........Be thankfull that your Electric sockets have electricity ,except when the power goes off.... After All,in the TRNC, "One out of THREE Ain't bad"...

Reminds me of the day we moved into our house. "Why isn't thre electricity on" says I. You haven't got a pole that's why. "But the contract says the property will be connected to the electricity" says I. Well it is, those are the wires sticking out of your surrounding wall. If you want electricity you must now pay for 2 poles in the road. Over and year and two electricity poles in the road plus £4000 a pole, we actually had what the contract said we had!!! The same goes for phone sockets............they are there and very nice they look too.
